  • Again with the Race Card

So, I bring up this guy's account and there is a hold from another store and a note from the SM on the account saying that the balance there was still owed, he knew it was still owed but had chosen not to pay it and not to rent until it WAS paid.

I tell him the hold is still on the account, call the other store, the balance is still due. I tell him the balance is still due.

He starts ranting and raving about how he doesn't owe them money and that some manager over at the other store told him he'd take the balance off. Of course he couldn't remember the name of said manager.

I explained to him that one way or the other the balance needed to be resolved before he could rent. He demanded to speak to the person at the other store so I handed him the phone.

He rambled/ranted/yelled at the manager on duty for so long that I sort of tuned him out. I cashed out 3-4 other customers, helped my CSR with a customer issue, checked in some movies, etc.

Every once in a while he'd wave his hand to catch my attention and then say stuff like, "You don't know how lucky you are!" trying to intimidate/scare me.
I just shrug my shoulders like *whatever* and go back to what I was doing.

He tells the guy at the other store that he's going to come over there and make him sorry.

Finally, he hangs up and proceeds to tell me that because I called the other store I am harassing him.
He then told me that I am a racist and that he was going to sue me for being a racist and for harassment.

I said, "Whatever, dude. Look, you owe us money. I don't really see how attempting to collect a debt makes me..."
He interupts me: "I DON'T OWE ANY MONEY! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!"
    Me: "Whatever." *rolleyes*

As he's storming out he calls me a bitch.

And imagine... he never actually showed up at the other store to make them sorry.

Oh yes.. the wonders of ballances at other stores. I can still remeber to this day about those. I used to work for Buster about 3 years ago. Worked there about 3 years.

Isn't that known as terrorism these days? Well, certainly threatening behaviour.

Over here, a threat like that will result in unfriendly police interest if reported.

Not quite, Raps. Unless it's a "yelling fire" type speech, it's still protected. As long as you are a citizen and can prove it
I've lost my mind ages ago. If you find it, please hide it.

It's not terrorism, but if I remember correctly, isn't issuing a threat over a telephone a federal offense these days?

If my memory serves correctly, it has been a felony for a number of years.

Communication of threats, I think it's called.

I don't know where my wife found it, but she has a perfect way to deal with this situation.

It's really easy, shuts them up and only consists two simple sentences.

"I am very sorry sir/ma'am, but your race card has been declined. Do you have another form of entitlement or will you be paying in cash?"
