  • Toaster Oven Threats

Yesterday started off as a great day. Even though we have inspection this week which means a crapload of extra cleaning. Nice great day until SHE walks through the door 30 minutes to close. SHE is an evil bitch of a woman that makes it her personal goal in life to come into Subway 2 or 3 times a day to find out what we don't have or out of to come back in the morning during the week to complain to our manager. Course me being an asst manager I have to deal with her rudeness and I am not that nice about it cause frankly I am sick of her shit. I had to turn the toaster oven off at 9 pm to let it cool down so I can get in it to scrub it. Yes it sucks that you can't your sub toasted and it sucks for me cause I hate cleaning that nasty thing. Get over it already it only happens like 2 or 3 days out of the month. I had put a sign out letting people know our toaster was down for cleaning and no one had one complaint under she flew in our door via broomstick. First thing that happened she wanted a $5 turkey sandwich with double meat so my coworker lets her know that the sub will cost more than $5 cause of the extra meat. SC gets all offended and says she knows that she is here all the time. Best believe if we didn't tell her that when it came time to ring it up she would be yelling that we didnt tell her that it was extra and she should get it free. Cause she has tried that scam before. Course the evil witch wants a flatbread sandwich cause OUR TOASTER IS OFF. *sigh* I give it to my coworker she was nice as she could be and warmed it up in the microwave even as the woman is saying "she don't like us and our customer service sucks". Lady storms off into the night. Ten minutes later HER SON comes stomping through the door, takes a seat, and glares at us until we get our 2 customers rung up and out the door. Said son is about 18 or 19 years old. He comes up to our counter and here is the following:

Son: I came up to here to find out what the problem is up here
Me: Our toaster oven is off for cleaning. I am sorry but we have to clean it once a week and that is orders from our big boss.
Son: Well that is my mother and she has had nothing but problems with this shift
Me: I am sorry she feels that way.
Coworker: Look not to be mean, I know that is your mother but every night she is in her looking for stuff to complain about in the morning.
Son: I am just warning you. I know my mother and theres no telling what she might do.

Ummm so I am still trying to apologize over the stupid oven being off and he keeps saying he is warning us. Really wtf??? So your saying your mother is crazy and could be sitting outside to shoot us over the toaster oven. After he left I called my boss and locked the door. I think this is the first time I have ever been threatened over a freaking toaster oven.

Oh my god, Momma's Boy much?

Sure, threats can be scary, but nothing is more hilarious and pathetic than an adult male who has to fight for his Maaamaa!

On a serious note though, I hope you stay safe and somehow can get that bitch banned. I truly feel for you, as I know all too well what it's like to have regular SCs who have too much time on their hands and seem to darken your doorway several times a shift just to bitch and whine and threaten.

Definately sounds like a threat, tell your manager or even call home office about it, and if THEY don't do anything, call the cops and tell them that you are being threatened by a customer. Maybe she will get banned that way.

What is it about Subway that turns over half of the people who walk through the door into either A: complete idiots who have suddenly forgotten everything they were taught on how to communicate properly to another person, B: Full grown adults that get de-evolved back into a 4-year-old's tantrum throwing status, or C: The most anal EW's the universe has ever seen?

And the worst part of it is it's all over SANDWICHES! Sandwiches, people!

I'm convinced it's just subway. Every other food place/customer service job I've had, the customer's generally aren't so bad. Subway just spawned the most SC's who are also the stupidest. I'm convinced it's the options, don't give the general population options, it fries their brain. Also, seeing their food... Buffets suck for that reason too. When SC's order and the food magically comes from the back, they seem to question it a little less.

That makes perfect sense. It fits my theory as well. The fact that there are so many choices is what spawns so many SCs. I agree with everything you said.

And I've read around, and it seems that all Subways have the same problems with them. (same type of SCs, etc)

Yeah, I definately hated Subway the most out of all my jobs. I hated it even more then the job I had where I regularly worked 16 hour days covering for other people who would call off for a litany of sad excuses (such as, "I don't like my coworker"). Those bastards still managed to work my schedule enough that I rarely worked OT.

Hence why I have a post in Sightings called "Subway Is A Dumb People Magnet". I kid you not. Out of everywhere I tend to frequent....the dumbest people I see are customers at Subway. Always Subway.

See, when the son's there warning you that's when you stop him and say "Excuse me sir, am I to infer that you are warning us that your mother could pose a danger to us? In that case thankyou for the warning please excuse me while I call the police"
If I dropped everybody who occasionally said something stupid from my list of potential partners, I wouldn’t even be able to masturbate

I do admit that Subway tends to perplex me. So many options!

But I just stand back, out of the line, until I finally figure out what I want.

I wish I could ban her from our store but my spineless manager would never do it. Nor would our area supervisor who bows down and grovels at every customer feet like that 5.35 is going to put her kids through college. Sigh I agree Subway does attract SC's like a magnet. I don't know if all the options they have blows their mind or reverts them back to childhood but cripes sake it is a SANDWICH

You must let us know if she comes back.

Were you all able to get out to you cars and get home without Psycho Bitch and her Pussy Nancy Boy Son hassling you?

Oh she will be back no doubt. I was waiting on her last night cause we were told to turn the toaster oven off again to clean it at 9:00 We have inspection sometime this week and we never know when the inspector will pop in. So this will be a long week for us. I don't know what the big deal is about that damn toaster oven but I am tempted to throw it out the back door. Yeah we all slammed out the door at the same time ducking and running to our cars. We looked like we all robbed the place and was making a fast get away

D'oh...my bad. I didn't notice in your very first post, you were talking about Sunday, and when you just replied about last night, you meant Monday night.

Stupid third shift job I have. I'm either always a day ahead of myself or behind. I guess last night when I first read your post and answered, I thought it had just happened last night, not Sunday.

Excuse me while I lol at my own stupidity here......

But if you'd like a personal opinion, I don't particuarily care for toasted subs. I'm sure some people do, but I really don't see why someone coming to Subway so close to closing (or very soon after opening when they have to warm it up) would freak out about it being off!
