  • Over bread?

Well with my dream job gone the way of the Dodo, i needed another job to pay my way through Uni, so i now slave away at a petrol station/conveinece store Being a larger site (one of many owned by the company) we have an attached bakery and Subway.

Often for reasons know to themselves they roster on one male to serve/act as personal security for the female staff (ussually numbering 5). So i can and have got into a few nasty incidences with irate customers, luckly managment will support us every step of the way as long as we act within the guidelines.

Now ont othe story, Our bakery has a loyality card system in place you spend over $5 on anything in the bakery and you get a stamp, get 5 stamps and you get $5 worth of bread free on your next visit. A gentleman today, and ill use the term loosely graced us with his presence and after buying bread was offered the free loyalty card, this is honestly what i overheard before stepping in.

    Ba - Bakery Assistant Manager
BG - Bread guy since i want to be polite)

Ba - 'finshes spiel about loyalty card'
BG - can you give an extra few stamps then
Ba - Sorry sir i cant do that, but you have a good day now
BG - come on i know you want to
Ba - Im sorry i cant do that
    BG - Sure you can
Ba - sir i cant im the assistant manager, im the last person who would do it
    BG - Just do it
Ba - sir i can't i dont want to lose my job
BG - Bet you dont want to lose your head either

it wasn't just what he said, it was the way he said it, so deadpan like he actually meant it, Cue me leaping the counter yes i leap) grabbing him by the collar of his jacket and frogmarching him out the doors,

Me - you want to threaten someone threaten me, now go and if you come back ever again i will have you charged with trespass.

he didn't say anything to me or even look at me as he walked away, we got his picture from the security camera and have put it on our wall of shame (my third personal banning and our second of the year). Honestly i was scared what he might do, it wasn't said like most of these heros do, yelling or cussing or in anger, it was so calm and matter of fact. And over a few stamps....sigh

He was probably trying to be tough ;p I mean was he really going to decapitate someone... over bread? I think threatening people only works in bad westerns. In REALITY LAND you go to jail for that sort of thing

And hopefully the fact that he got called on it so rapidly and forcefully will sink in (for a little while, anyway) and he won't pull that stunt again.
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.

I feel like this country is going down the tube, in more ways every day.
