What do you DO on Sundays!

This happened about 2 weeks ago.... I'm slow on getting around to things.

So I had to be to work at 11. Meaning, clocked in, in the FR, ready with a smile. By 11. This is a sunday so we dont open till 11. Well I get there at about 10:45, plenty early to get my stuff in my locker etc.... and wouldnt you know it there is like 30 people waiting out side the door......... really?

So I walk over and buzz the panel and the jackass behind me feels it is necessary to say "Look at that! All you have to do is ring the button and they let you the fuck in!"
At Which I say "I wouldnt recommend it"

So I buzz in and stand there for about 5 min (which is usually how long it takes them to get to the door) and notice that my manager is standing right in the front of the store giving a rally. I wave... she waves.... I'm like... wtf?

So I call. "Hey. I need to get in."
Mean while ASSHOLE behind me is like "Hey tell her to let us the FUCK in"

I ignore this and Ca____ says "look if I open the doors they are all gonna try and rush them. Just wait till 11. Kay?"

...... I was pretty pissed. Then Asshole says to me "If this was Fucking Wallmart they'd let us in" To which someone replies "Well it aint fucking wallmart."

All told... I had to wait out there for 15 min and listen tho them all bitch and moan.

I mean REALLY! Dont they have anything better to do on a Sunday!


..... I am a firm believer in the college rule that if you show up to class and your professor inst there with in 10 min of start time. you get to leave.

Next time I have to wait 10 min to get in side... I'm going home.

Good grief i think i would have left. If they want you there so badly, they really need to let you in when you show up. I hope you at least weren't standing out there freezing for 10 minutes.

Again, another one of my pet peeves. Were you scheduled 11-8 like I always am? I hate it...it kills the entire day.

Suprisingly, the exact same thing happened to me this past Sunday. There were about the same number, too. And who opened? Just me and the opening MOD. That's right, TWO people. Grr, I hate this place....[/rant]

I usually get 11-7 shifts... you know... just long enough so I cant do SHIT all day... but not quite the whole shift.....

I hate them all.....

11-7 would be kinda cool. The best shows usually come on at 8pm.
I'm swing shift, I get like 3pm-11pm, 4-12am, and the "early" window is like 2pm-10pm. I don't do shit all day anyway lol I sleep until I haveta get up and get ready for work

Back in my days of youth when I was at college I worked part-time in the Paperchase concession inside a Borders.

I generally worked Sundays and the store was open 10:30-16:30 (being the UK)

Because I was only there once a week none of the Borders staff (or Starbucks staff) really knew me so they NEVER let me in. And because it was concession it was often just me in on a Sunday as I could just put up a sign directing customers to the main Borders tills if I popped on lunch break/the loo/to get stock.

Anyhoo...the would let me in when the door opened and didn't seem to care, even if I tapped on the glass, waved etc The concession manager took it up with the store manager who just shrugged. Therefore on a Sunday I generally never made it to the shop floor, ready to work until 10:40 ish-oh well, less time at work but still being paid! Oh

And yes, I got trapped outside with the weirods waiting 15 minute before the store opened. Until I just started turning up at 10:30 when the doors opened.

I am that way with meetings. Only I won't wait 10 minutes. I had a meeting with a manager, who didn't show up for 9 minutes after the start time, so I jump off the call.

She calls me and asks if I was planning to join the conference, I told her I had been there and she wasn't, college rules apply. She said no fair, she was only 9 minutes late not 10, I told her she wasn't a PHD, she only get 7 minutes.

Easy solution to this is to talk to your HR manager and have your time adjusted since technically you were at work before your scheduled time. And tell your manager that you're going to do this if they refuse to let you in. Sorry you had to listen to that asshoel complain btw.
