I am surprized I made it through the day. I think I might have food poisoning, but the bills have to be paid, so I went to work. Keep in mind I was making frequent trips to the restroom and feeling like my insides had been put in a blender.
I WANT A REFUND
We are not allowed to refund or exchange season 3 clothes as we have significantly reduced and/or packed them away. We can only do refunds or exchanges on season 4 clothing. A 'lady' asked for a refund on a season 3 shirt- she didn't have her reciept either. I told her that we could not do a refund or exchange on season 3 clothes as they had been packed and sent back AND she would need her reciept in the future if she wanted to get her money back. The SC DEMANDED to talk to my manager and ranted the whole time about how this was a bunch of crock and I was stealing from her and I was racist. The manager, MG, came up and I told him what was happening. MG told me to go ahead with the exchange and then left me to her smugness. (Thanks a lot for making me look like a moron and shooting my credibility down to zero. Bastard.)
Since the SC didn't have her reciept, I had to do a price check on the outfit and would have to take the price it was ringing up for the exchange. It rang up $10.00 and the tag said $13.00. Cue ranting and me calling MG back over. At least MG stands firm about the exchange being for the price it rang up as. MG left again. The SC leaves for a little bit so she can get her crap. When she comes back in line, she has a $10.00 denim jacket and a $5.00 shirt (with a 2 for $10 tag). She said she didn't want the denim jacket. Okay, why the hell did you bring it up here then? Anyway, I tell her that I can not give back any change from an exchange and that she would need to get another shirt to bring the total up to $10.00.
'BUT THIS IS TEN DOLLARZ!!!'
No, it says two for ten.
'Blank Stare.'
That makes it five dollars.
'FINE, I'll get another shirt.' SC goes and gets another shirt. I finish the exchange. SC gets a paper that she has to fill out- her name, address, phone number, and since she didn't have a reciept, her driver's license #. She just puts her name down.
Mam, you have to fill the form out completely.
'No, I don't.'
Yes you do.
'No, I don't.'
You do if you want me to complete this exchange.
'My license is in the car.'
I can wait for you to get it.
SC gets her license, comes back in, and throws it at me. I fill out the id and address area and give her back her license and the paper for her to put her phone number down. She scribbles a few numbers down and tosses the pen and paper back at me. I ring up her two shirts, bag them, and give her the reciept. Whew, she is gone.
Nope, no such luck. She picks up the denim jacket, throws it at me, and yells at me about how she wanted it and I was going to cheat her out of it, steal her money, and again I am being racist. I ring up the jacket, she throws the money at me, i give her the change, bag the jacket, and finally get rid of her. She left, came back a second time to rant about how the service sucked. I told her she was free to contact the corporate and gave her the number.
SANTA ISN'T SO JOLLY
Not long after she left (Finally), a customer that could have been a mall Santa deposited three shirts on the counter, all with $5.00 tags. I ring them up, each come to $5.00. The total is $16.02.
"But the sign back there said $5.00 each OR 3 for $10.00."
I explain that sometimes the signs are one price is for the garments on one side and the other price is for the items on that side.
"I don't care, I can show you the sign."
I explain I can not leave the register. He demands to talk to the manager. I call MG to the front. He and MG go back to where the signs are. SC comes back, pays the $16.02, and says, "YOU need to fix those DAMN signs." Um, no I won't. Those are the signs corporate sent us and they are set up according to the plannogram. Besides, I am a cashier, and I am not in charge of clothing.
IT IS BROKEN
Another woman brought back a purse for a refund. She said it was broken and she couldn't get it zipped up. Um... okay. I looked at it, played a bit with the zipper, got the fabric that was stuck in it out, and fixed it. "How were you able to fix that?" You just watched me fix it. All you had to do was get the zipper unstuck. "I still want a refund because it was broken." Oh kill me now. Please.
LEAVE ME ALONE
I was making frequent trips to the restroom. A customer would not leave me alone while I was making my way to the back to use the restroom. I told him when he started bugging me that the man at the front would help him.
"I want you to SERVE me before you go to the restroom."
Oh, no he didn't. I told him that I could not and to go to the front for assistance.
"This is the worst customer service I have ever had."
I was fighting back the urge to hurl. "Sir, it can get worse if you do not let me go use the restroom. I have to vomit." I turned and went back to the restroom, barely making it in time. Apparently the guy complained because when I came back, MG asked me if I told the guy I was going to barf on him.
Thank you Social Services
The only good thing that happened today was the Grandma and Mom who I have delt with before came in without the two girls. Backstory- I have seen the grandma & mom full-on hit the girls, grandma picked the youngest (1 1/2 years old) up by the arm and smacked her into the counter- hard (poor thing was crying and you know she was bruised), and the Grandma rant about how she hated F***ing children- infront of the kids. It seems that someone *whistles* called Social Services on them and it was bad enough that the children were remo ed- Grandma was ranting to a friend about it the incident. Good, they didn't deserve those children.
I also hurt my back while bending over to pick up a piece of trash discarded by the purse lady.
