Yes, we are a UPS authorized shipping center, and we use UPS for special orders, but we are NOT UPS, nor do we have any control or influence over transit times.
Had a woman call in today just about foaming at the mouth she was so mad. She said she ordered a monitor that was out of stock when she came in to buy it, and was told it would arrive today (Thursday). She was upset because she said she called UPS when it didn't show up by 3 and they said it wasn't on the truck.
So that means it's OUR fault. I told her that once the item ships, it's out of our hands, and that if she is having a problem with the item arriving late, she needs to take that up with UPS.
Of course that wasn't good enough.
SC: I have a PROJECT I need to get started on, and I NEED to know when it will arrive. First I was told Wednesday, then was told Thursday, and now I'm being told Friday. And I'll bet tomorrow you'll tell me it won't arrive until Saturday!!!
I put her through to the manager, and he told her pretty much the same thing, and that she was more than welcome to contact the home office, because there was nothing we could do about it.
First of all, if you have a hard deadline for something, then don't special order it. 99.9% of the time things arrive on time, but you must expect the unexpected. Let's say it together: FAILURE TO PLAN ON YOUR PART DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN EMERGENCY ON MY PART!!!!! If you absolutely need a new monitor, then you'd have sprung for something other than the CHEAPEST one we carry, and/or you'd drive an extra few minutes to a store that has it in stock. I'm sure we could have found one had you been willing to do that. SO ultimately, you have no one to blame but yourself.
To that end, WE ARE NOT UPS!!!!! If there is a problem in transit, that's their responsibilty, not ours.
Third, LOOK AT YOUR COPY OF THE ORDER!!!!! Do you see the BOLDFACE TYPE that says "EXPECTED DELIVERY DATE?" That means it's an ESTIMATE, not a PROMISE. Oh, and did you also see the part about "deliveries may be made as late as 7PM?" ANd you're calling at 3? Stupid me, I forgot: SCs don't read.
I'd barely even set foot in the building when this shit-for-brains called.
