We cash personal checks for people in my casino. I never really understand why anybody would want to write a check but thats just me. I am not a check writing person, to each their own.
This woman comes up seems pleasant enough. She just got her players card (and I know this because I sent her to get it--its required for cashing a check) and thus had no play on it. In my casino you can start at three hundred dollars and once you show that you've played it on your card, you can have more.
Well this woman wanted to write it for five hundred instead of three. As a cashier I have no say so. I have to ask for anything like that and get it initialed by a supervisor.
Me: Okay, *before* you write the check out, let me check with my manager. So, I will be right back, so wait to fill it out please.
I said it TWICE. And I even made sure not to give her a pen. I ask the supervisor since we are not allowed to say no. I knew it was a no but I needed the permission to say so. Lame, I know. She says no.
I go back.
Me: unfortunately we can only start at three and then once you show that you've used that money the supervisor can approve more.
What did she do? She already wrote the check for five hundred!
She gave me that why didn't you tell me look? I wanted to scream.
SC: But its my last check!
(poor planning on your part and F for your listenting skills)
Me: Well, you can cross it off and initials the amount and just use that check.
SC: But I already wrote void on it!
Well, you have single handedly screwed yourself over.
SC: Go ask your boss if they'll take it.
SV said no way since she jumped the gun and wrote void across the check. DUH. Idiot!
I tell her sorry we can't take it, etc. She asks me about the atm and all that BS.
She decides to use to atm.
Now, it was an hour or so later, She's back! GRRR. I wasn't even open but I was on the frontline working on finishing something from a previous customer. I wasn't even in my window and I was surrounded by closed signs.
She of course heads straight for me.
She again bitches about her check and wants to know what I am going to do to get her money. I have had it. My cool SV just happened to arrived for his shift and I went back there and told him to deal with it lol
I hid in the back and let him have it out with her. In the end of course she was still unhappy but damn, lady don't blame me because you would not listen.
