  • Hello!

Long time lurker, love the site!

    Introduction-Backstory-General Tidbits of Knowledge:

I work for a law enforcement agency. That's as much as I'm willing to put out there for reasons which many of you completely understand. I am NOT a law enforcement officer. I am a civilian employee. That being said, here is my first CS/SC story from when I first started:

    I laugh at your McNuggets!
Back when yours truly was a dispatcher-in-training, we had a call come through about a disturbance at a local *food establishment that America runs on*. The following are what I remember about the notes from this call:

"Caller/Complainant advises that customer/subject is screaming that *donut hole treats* are not to his liking. Caller/Complainant advises that customer/subject believes staff of establishment are conspiring to give him "crap" *donut hole treats*. Caller/Complainant advises customer/subject is causing loud disturbance in establishment and refuses to leave until demands for "non-crap" *donut hole treats* are met. Caller/Complainant advises that they normally would not call law enforcement, but the customer/subject is refusing to leave, even after receiving "non-crap" *donut hole treats*. Customer/subject is also sharing thoughts on *donut hole treat* conspiracy with other customers/witnesses/not-quite-victims-but-might-as-well-be and scaring them away. Caller/Complainant would like law enforcement officer to politely ask *donut hole customer/subject* to leave premises. Units arriving on scene now. Units advise that customer/subject has been trespass warned and that further visits to *food establishment that America runs on* will result in immediate application of shiny connective bracelets to customer/subject. Call cleared at 1915 hours."

Why is stupidity not an arrestable offense?

    Hi! Welcome!

<Store> was my first job, and let me tell you, people get ANGRY about their *donut hole treats*. I worked at incredibly small store inside a gas station, so luckily the suck was not strong there, but still. We changed the products out around 2pm, putting the old ones in the very front and the stuff we received midday towards the back.

Only difference was at my <store> we went until we ran out of our morning supply of *donut hole treats*, because the trays contained hundreds of them. Unless there were sports games or people were bringing them into work, we sold them maybe 1 to 6 at a time. If we didn't sell any boxes, we could go through only one single tray of a kind through the whole day. If there were some left over, night shift might change, but it was up to them.

Now, I know from experience (I gained 15 pounds working there for 3 months ) that the things do NOT go stale that easily. I'd eat them throughout the day and considered them just fine. Not some customers though. They demanded we take them off the night tray, and would yell at us if we tried to give them off the morning tray. Seriously people, unless you bite into a stale one, it's not a big deal. What's all the fuss?

I miss working there. Free *donut hole treats* and all the decaf coffee I could drink during my shift. Those were the days.

      Welcome, fellow LE Dispatcher!

I love those calls so much, especially at 3 AM. >_<

My favorite though is when people call in "*local mexican food joint that stays open no matter WHAT! Seriously, I've driven home in blizzards, going 10 miles an hour the entire way, and they have a line of 8 people for their drive-through...* didn't give me my change."
"Well, have you asked them for it?"
"No... but I want an officer to come tell them to give me my change"
"*FWAMP* (sound of head hitting desk) Well, ma'am, there's not a lot our officers can do. You can ask them for your change, and if they refuse, you can take them to small claims court, but unfortunately our officers can't force them to give you change"
"Well, just send an officer out, they'll give me my change."
      "*FWAMP*"

Too far. I'm in Pittsfield most of the time, taking care of my grandmother, so I can't make a long drive unless I have baby-sitting lined up.
