  • Look at the clock much?

So the brilliant people who I work for decided today at 12:00 PM EDT that the 30% chance of rain tomorrow is too big a chance to take on working so they canceled.

I called the customer who is (rightfully) pissed off. I even told them "You're right, this is stupid, but it's out of my hands now"

Yes I realize this could come back and bite me in the ass, I don't care anymore.

Anyway, the reason we canceled is that if we show up and can't work then we're out $30,000 when we have to send everyone back again. It happens maybe 1-2 times a year, and it just ruins the whole week. (Crane rental, street closure, union crew, 7 tractor trailers)

Anyway, customer wants to know what can be done to get the job going. I tell them they have to send us a letter that if we show up and can't work, or can't finish that they will cover the associated costs.

So they think about it, and think about it...

Until 1:40 PM EDT when I call again and tell them make the damn call or it'll be too late to get the trucks rolling.

And they made me go through the whole stinking thing, again.

The signed letter showed up at 3 PM (thankfully we made the call without it, but I was sweating until it showed up).

I hate these people. I have to run around like a chicken sans head to make sure things get done for them in a timely fashion, and they can't be bothered to make an effort.

    never mind.
i see why the company would be out so much money if they can't work.

still it seems kinda annoying on both sides

K's boss had to tell someone that they have to completely rebuild their roof last week as he hadn't followed the plan. K is the cad monkey on that job and had to sit in on the meeting....

the guy just about had a stroke, the meeting was scheduled for an hour starting at 4pm, K didn't get home until 7pmnow K and his boss have to bascially go and babysit the crew when they rebuild, twice daily visits. All of this is costing the client a pretty penny (they charge K out at $120 an hour and his boss is $300)

K isnt happy, his boss isnt happy, and the client is most certainly not happy but its his own fault... not that he would ever admit that of course
