  • She doesn't keep it bottled up

At the library people call wanting us to copy articles from the newspapers. Sometimes they want to come in to look at the microfilm, usually requested this ahead of time with something like "I want to look at the microfilm" or "I want to look at the newspaper for this date."

So, I'm used to someone wanting us to copy an article saying they want an article.

Anyway, this woman calls between 5-5:30. We close at 9.

    SC: I want an article.
Me: Ok, it will take us about 2 weeks to make a copy since we are backed up.
SC: *Borderline hysterics* Last time I requested an article I got it in one hour!!!
Me: ok, are you talking about coming in to look at the microfilm to make a copy?
    SC: Yes!
Me: ok, that's diff. we can have the microfilm ready in an hour for you to make copies from. What is the date?

And it went smoothly after that but I still warned my coworkers that a crazy 40 year old woman is going to show up needing help with microfilm. I was assuming she was 40, since she sounded she was in her 40's.

The woman shows up at 8:55 I wasn't there on the floor but I assume she showed up at 8:55 because once a woman showed up at 8:30, and I had to go to storage to get the right film, then help her find the article, then try to copy but the copy machine isn't working so I had to go searching for a flashdrive to save it on and then print it out in the workroom. And that took me a total of 20 min. So I think it's a safe assumption the SC showed up at 8:55 because when I went to help close, the librarian who was helping her was rolling the film when the computer turned off at 9pm. So no way we can help her, computer timed off. The cw told her we will hold the film for 3 days.

SC showed up on my shift the next day. Shit. Oh, did I mention she looked like she was in her 20's? She sounded like she was in her 40's on the phone, but looked and sounded like she was in her 20's in person. Huh.

Anyway, she was trying to load the film on a machine when she called for my help. We have 3 microfilm machines connected to 3 seperate computers. Each machine has a diff. lens, and she got the machine that magnifies large only. So I move her to another machine. She leaves her purse in the way by the other machine and one of our annoying regulars comes with film and says outloud, "Is this your bag?" The SC just gets the bag and the annoying regular says, "you should watch your bag, it can get lost". The SC says, "Ok, thanks" then says outloud, "I hate people telling me my business". I try not to roll my eyes. I don't like the annoying regular, but I think the SC should have at least apologized for having her purse in the way. This is not her living room.

I'm use to people printing 8 1/2 x 11, but she wants to copy it on 11 x 17. So I try to get it to copy right, and I forget to put it on landscape. It comes out wrong and she says snidely "I don't have to pay for this, do I?"

But in general she was bitchy. I'm glad she figured out how to run the machine herself (which surprised me that she bitched when she called about requesting film before; I guess she just has a short memory) so I didn't have to deal with her.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

    I wish porn had subtitles.
