    "In this economy....."

    ME: Awesome employee
    SC: Sucky Customer
    MOD: Manager on Duty


    RING RING

    ME: "Thank you for calling [toy company] my name is [awesome] how may I help you today?"

    SC: "Yes, hi. I wanted to see if you had the police lego set in your store"

    *checks it up on the computer*

    ME: "Yes, we have plenty of those. Would you like me to set one aside for you to pick up today?"

    SC:"...now, I see here on your website that legos are 25% off this week. So what is the price with the 25% off?"

    ME: *pulls up the ad online* "I'm sorry, this week only our spongebob legos and our starwars legos are 25% off. The police sets are not a part of this promotion unfortunately."

    SC: "But they're legos. The 25% off is on legos!"

    ME: "Yes those are lego sets, but unfortunately that sale is on specific lego sets only as is indicated in our advertisement. Would you like to purchase a spongebob or starwars set instead? You would be able to get the 25% off any one of those."

    SC: "NO! I want the police station! I mean, you're not honoring your 25% off! You have to honor your sales!"

    ME: "Yes Ma'am. We will certainly honor the 25% off any spongebob or starwars sets as advertised."

    SC: "No, its a sale on legos and you're not honoring your sale!"

    ME: "I'm sorry but we are honoring the sale we advertised. The set you requested is not part of this promotion."

    SC: "You have to give me the sale!##$%#%@#$#!!!!!

    ME: "I'm sorry ma'am but these sales are governed by our corporate offices. I don't have the power to decide which sets should be on sale or not."

    SC: You know, this is unacceptable, in this economy you need to honor your sales. Otherwise you won't have any business. I want to talk to your manager!"

    *I explain to the manager*

    MOD: "How can I help you?"

    SC: In this economy you should be able to honor that sale on legos and give me the 25% off the police station set!!!"

    MOD: In this economy would you like to pay my mortgage?

    SC: "......"

    MOD: "If you have a problem with the sale please dial 1-800-TOYCOMPANY."

    SC: "I'll do that!"

    *CLICK*


    IN THIS ECONOMY

    I'm SO sick of hearing that!! We're all suffering! I LOVED that line my manager used.

    One thing on sale doesn't mean EVERYTHING is on sale. GOSH!!!

    In this economy common sense, intelligence, and rational thought seem to have taken a flying leap out the window.

    Of course, they seemed to have done that in the last economy as well. Go figure.

      So "this economy" is just an excuse to use the ole' "but it's Christmas!!!" line, but with different words. I wonder, can you ruin someone's economy? I'm sure with the logic SC's follow we might just see that one day.

          The sucky customers need to buy their legos to protect themselves from terrists on the internets! oh noez! That and their TARPs and duct tape... lolz

            I'm starting to believe that "in this economy" is SC speak for free. SCs seem to forget that "in this economy" its not only the consumer that is hurting...it's businesses too!

                SC's/EW's will always find a reason to demand stuff on sale that is not on sale. Good or bad economy.
