Guest: Dave, I have been trying to reach your manager all day. First of all, your coworker lied to me. She told me this island was the place to be. I hate it. The water is murky, the sand is all clumped together and the boardwalk to the beach had rotted wood and nails sticking out of it and this villa is dirty. Everything in here is filthy

Me: well I certainly apologize

Guest: and that is supposed to make me feel better?

Me: well ma'am I dont know what you want me to say

Guest: I want you to get the manager on the phone

Me: he is in a meeting

Guest: and so we cant call him on his cell phone?

Me: well I am sure he has it turned off

Guest: ok and you cant go get him

Me: no ma'am

Guest: Dave, this has been a horrific experience...this place is so terrible. I want to cry. This is my vacation you've ruined. I just cannot beleieve you people are doing this to me.

Me: ma'am you can leave the manager a voice mail

Guest: so you're washing your hands of me, Dave?

Me: I cant do anything for you, unfortunately, you must speak with a manager

Guest: I just cant believe it, Dave. I cant believe you refuse to lift a finger to help me. This is disgraceful and as for the young lady who booked me, I intend to press charges against her for falsely representing this destination. It is none of the things she said it was. Dave, I am just too upset to speak anymore. My whole vacation is down the toilet. I just cant bear the horrors of this place a minute longer....boo hoo hoo hoo


Then the husband calls

Husband: Dave, I need your manager NOW

Me: he is in a meeting

Guest: I dont care if he is in China, I want to talk to him

Me: he is in a meeting

Guest: if he doesnt take my call, I am coming up there to look for him and there will be hell to pay

Me: I cant interrupt him while he is in a meeting

Guest: well we are leaving....my wife is in the bedroom crying right now and we cant stay here

They came to the desk with all these dirty towels and threw them at the guy at the front desk and demanded the manager come up and meet him saying if he didnt he was calling the police

I still wonder how these people are so eager to take a dump all over their own vacations. I guarantee...things can't be that bad unless you're trying to make them that way.

Vacations can't always be what people expect. The goal of a vacation is to experience something different. A friend of mine did that. She and her friends were going to a 'luxury' Resort in Central America that offered tree-house accommodations. The tree-houses were real tree houses with the requisite rickety wooden staircases, mosquito nets and morning visits by lizards. One person's rustic charm is another person's filth.

Most of VRS's properties seem to be on the shore. A bit of sand can be expected here and there. The docks and walkways will have bits of splinters and protruding nails in places. It's what the real word is. get used to it!

The sand is actual honest-to-god sand.
The boardwalk is how wood gets when its next to seawater.


(Okay, yes, it's possible that the water has sewerage pumped into it, the sand is filthy with human trash, and the boardwalk is rotted to dangerous levels. But I somehow doubt that.)

My favourite part is her brilliant logic.
Some travel agent somewhere 'misrepresented' the destination.
She herself then decided, without doing any further research of her own, to book said destination of her own free will.
The family came and did not enjoy their stay (supposedly).
Therefore you personally have ruined their vacation! That's some hard work there on your part, good job!
