  • A New One...

I'm not surprised by this, just surprised that I haven't seen it before in 6 years of working at >bookstore<

Saw a book lying on the floor. Picked it up, it's gay erotica, no surprise there. I find those books hidden away all over the damn store. As I go to shelve it, I notice it looks...odd. So I flip through it.

Some asshole really liked one of the stories (a story, not a sex scene, as it was about 30 pages) in the collection. Instead of buying it, they cut out the pages with a razor or something.

Mother f***ker. What the hell is wrong with people? Who on Earth behaves like that?

They should. People at my store whine about how much books cost; well, that's part of the cause.

That assclown is probably such an idiot, he'd think he's not as bad as a shoplifter because he only took part of the book.

Asshole, you've ruined the book, it's now unsellable, you're just as bad... you are a shoplifter.

Well, I didn't see him anywhere in the store, so I figure it was just some random prick.

We caught a guy once using a digital camera to take pictures of the pages he wanted. Manager put a stop to that real quick.

We never had that, but we did have a guy who used to cut pictures out of books with razors.

The store got the police involved when we realized, by reading the captions, that all the cut-out pictures were of children.

I'm not sure if they ever caught him.

Ah, the creepy farking people and kids...

Every time we had a "kid group" at the hotel, we would always see a few...it never failed. 12-year olds all over? You could be sure that there was at least 1 person hanging around.

We got very good at spotting them, and quietly shuffling them off. The fact that we kept the police close by helped. You wouldn't BELIEVE how many people will pull that kind of crap...and if the parents actually had a clue, they'd probably actually watch their children instead of heading off to the bar.

                  Ah, memories...

At Store1 one day I had a woman come up to the registers to report that there was a guy hanging a little too close to her in the childrens department. She was on the floor in the corner looking through some books, and he had followed her there from another area in the department. He was wearing short running shorts (and it was winter) and, as she was unfortunately able to discern, nothing underneath . I called the manager up, and the woman took her back to the department to point out the guy, and the police were called. I don't remember exactly how it ended but I do remember them sitting him on a chair near the door and having a little chat with him. I couldn't hear them from where I was but I saw more than a few customers come in the door and walk past that scene and they all asked me what was going on.

*shiver* Ugh...I don't think I can ever go into the children's section at my bookstore again without being reminded there are twisted people out there.

As for the pervs who 'shadow' children... Yeah, I'd keep a camera handy to get a picture of anybody like that... for two reasons:

                          1) to give to the Police in case he tried anything.

                          2) to give to the doctors so that they could rebuild his face in case the Police don't show up quick enough...

That does suck, but it could have been much worse. I won't put words to my dirty suspicion, but I was bracing myself for something much worse when I read that line.

I would feel sorry for someone like that if there wasn't a crapload of gay porn on the Internet you can get for free.
