  • encounters which left me scratching my head

A couple of things happened to me today.

The first was that I served a woman and gave her change to her. She then handed me the 2 pence coins and then asked me if we had a charity box. I said that we didn't, and she said "Well don't take it if you don't have one!" I gave her it back and she stormed out, going on about how took her change off her.

When I went out to lock the last of the petrol pumps there were cars at each of the pumps and people were either filling up, or the driver was waiting for whoever there was with to pay in the shop. I locked all the pumps and was about to take in the fire extinguisher when the car who was at the pump behind the one I was standing at pulled up and the driver got out and tried to pick up one of the nozzles. I told him that I thought that he had used the pump behind and that I would unlock it for him
but he just snapped "forget it!" and he got in his car and drove off.

It never occurred to me that he could drive to an available pump and then decided to sit there waiting for the one in front to become available. Seriously, why would anyone do that?

because, don't you know, you're supposed to KNOW what one he's waiting for?

Maybe he's OCD. He might have to use a certain pump, on a certain day, and get a certain amount. That's the only thing i could think of.
