  • You report a problem, but don't let me help you?

Before I get to the meat of the story let me give you a bonus scene. Same guys, but different type of suck.

I had three guys come to check in. I knew right away they were going to be douches becuase of the first thing he said after he agreed on a price:

SC: I'm timing you on how long it takes to check me in.

I didn't let it phase me. I just went at my normal speed which I think is fast enough. While waiting, the guy checkin in looks at our stack of newspapers. We're out of USA Today so we only have the local paper. Much smaller than the Denver Post.

SC: Whoa! Did you guys know that Michael Jackson died? <some female name> told me, but I didn't believe her. (to me) When did he die?
    Me: The 25th
SC: And what day is it now?
    Me: the 28th.

Now granted, when I heard the news, I was about to do a Dynams - Jeuno run on FFXI and one of the members mentioned it, but a few of us didn't believe it. I turned on the radio to verify the facts. But how could you go 3 days without knowing about such an event?

Note: I'm not trying to make light of his death. I didn't care for most of his music, but I do recognize the impact he had.

So douches get up to their room and request a rollaway. No prob I go and grab one for them. It takes me knocking 4 times and calling the room before they finally open the door to allow me to dilever the rollaway.

About a minute later they call down wondering what's wrong with the AC. I explain that depending on the model, it may not be able to run if the temperature outside is below a certain temperature. I won't know that unless I look at the unit. So I offer to have a look and they decline thinking there's nothing I can do. They ask what else can be done. I politely tell them to OPEN A F**KING WINDOW.

o.o Woah woah woah, hold on a sec...

What server?! I was in Dynamis Jeuno when someone told my shell the same thing.

    .....

    ON TOPIC NOW, I swear.

Saying that you'll be timing me on how fast I do things is almost guaranteed I'll just go SLOWER. Some people just can't wait for anything can they? Then they refuse your help, sounds like a group thats just loads of fun!

Oh, don't you just love the passive-aggressive quizzing by customers? Had a gentleman yesterday that was quizzing me on his age. That he was born in 1927 so hold old was he. Yes, I can do math, but no I don't feel obliged to. I just fake-laughed it off until I finished checking him through.

Michael Jackson's death kind of had me going "WTF?!". I usually don't find this kind of stuff interesting, but it's kind of weird hearing that one of the first celebrities you ever heard of just died. I've known about the guy since I was four, by the way.

Firebert from Garuda hugs back. I'm bummed about today's glacier run but that story doesn't really belong here.

I think this douche is going to try and get a freebie, but since I documented my story in the logbook, I'm hoping he doesn't.

It's that time of the damn year. We have the same type of AC's that turn off if the temp outside has dropped (like at night for example). This concept...well guests don't get it cuz clearly all we want to do is lie to them...

I had some guy do this to me while we were waiting to board an airplane. I told him somewhere between geezer and fart.

Glad I wasn't at work when it happened, the resulting complaining would have resulted in me looking for new work.

Back when I worked a cash register and did bookkeeping, I always hated it when people tried 'clever math puzzles' with me. I was doing math in my head and keeping track of numbers on the fly all day, my brain is tired.
