  • Either Very Smart, or Very Stupid

Ok, this one is a post I put up waaaaay back on the old CS boards, pre-any hacks.

I used to work in the counting room of a major amusement park near Cincinnati, Ohio. Part of the job involved going out in the park to do cash pickups from the merchandise and food stands so we wouldn't have so much to count at once when the park closed. When we went on these runs, we looked just like any other visitor in the park, so it wouldn't be obvious we were employees, thus less likely to be robbed. This worked fine for years until a new manager decided we needed to have a security escort. Yah, THAT makes us real incospicuous...

Anywho, I was walking to the next stand with my security escort one day when a lady in line for the brand new, hottest-thing, roller coaster stopped my escort to ask a question.

    LL: Lady in Line
    SG: Security Guard
Me: don't mind me, just a guy with a bulging bag being escorted by Security, yup.

    LL: Escuse me?
    SG: Yes, ma'am?
LL: How long is the line from here?
SG: (looking at the sign right. in. front. of. her.) It says here, ma'am, that it's about a 2-hour wait.
LL: (looks to be thinking for a few seconds) Ok, but can you tell me, does the line move fast?
SG & Me: (Look at each other)

I still don't know if she was a little dim, or had just spent too much time in a quantum physics lecture.

(Quick explain: High speeds can theoretically affect local time for the object versus universal time. Applies as the object approaches the speed of light.)

    Sigh...

    You ever see PITCH BLACK?
Compared to her, that planet was a LITTLE dim.
