  • But I loooooove him!

**Disclaimer: This contains some sensitive subject matter related to Domestic Violence. I do NOT think less of people in these situations, but dealing with (some) them can be frustrating because they ask over and over again for our help, but won't take that last step to remove themselves from the situation. This is not about how I feel personally, just about one person who can't quite connect the dots, even as she's laying everything out on the table. And yes, I have been in an abusive relationship in the past, and I do understand why many people are so afraid to get out of them. That's probably why this stuff frustrates me so much, because I've been there.**

    On to the story

So in my line of work I encounter a lot of people who have shitty significant others who pull all sorts of outrageous/cruel shit and their partner won't leave because "I love him/her!! I know they don't mean it!"
Today, I encountered the most infuriating example of this.

I was informed of the following:

-the d-bag is a registered sex offender
-is not allowed contact with the callers child
-the caller's father is trying his damndest to keep the d-bag out of the caller's life, because of the above
-caller stated she could not take of herself (due to short term illness), let alone a child
-and offhandedly mentioned she is supposed to be getting married to said d-bag in just a few days

She wants to get a restraining order against her meddling father. Granted, meddling parents are annoying as hell, especially when they're right. But you REALLY want to marry a guy you can't even let your young child be around?! Ok, I don't mean to be an ass, but after all that, you want to get the restraining order against your father, who is trying desperately to get you to see what you are obviously not getting.

This is where the term "You wouldn't believe me if I told you your ass is on fire" comes into play.

Her logic reminds me of my brother's baby's momma (hint: my brother and her are both deadbeat parents). But that's for another thread.
