  • Why would I be in here if she's in here?

The guy I work with in maintenance related this story to me. Seems he had blocked off the ladies room to do some cleaning when this lady walks up & asks.."is there a little girl in there?" He looked at her for a second & said..."why would I be in here IF there was a female in here at the same time?" She then snapped at him and said.."That's NOT what I asked!" She then turned around & walked away.

Now really, why would a male cleaner cleaning the ladies room be in there while a female was in there at the same time? People really need to think before they open their mouths!

Maybe the girl was just washing up or doing her makeup? I agree it was a silly comment, but I've also told cleaners to go ahead and keep doing their thing because I was just washing my hands or some other non-private thing.

Exactly. His comment was rude. I could see reacting that way in his head, but saying it is a no-no.

actually a awhile ago me and another male coworker were in a women's room in one of the last stalls replacing a toilet paper holder.

We had a couple women walk in and use the stalls at the opposite end of the bathroom with no complaint. So, it is possible.

Not being in there with a patron is more for the employee's protection. Since there are no cameras, someone could accuse them of all kinds of horrible things and there'd be no proof to the otherwise. Sure, you probably wouldn't be found guilty, but do you really want to go to trial in the first place?

When I was in college, a few times the male maintenance staff would knock on the restroom door while I was in there "minding my business."

One time, I told him to come on in, that I wasn't shy--I grew up with two brothers. He did decline and wait for me to finish.

Ive had the total opposite happen, where I was in the ladies restroom, and a male custodian decided to just come right in, no knock or anything. I thought nothing in it as I was in a stall, figured it was another women. I can understand if he thought nobody was in there, but when I came out of the stall, there he was, standing there sweeping the floor, not even a blush or an apology I was sort of mortified.....I complained to the store manager, it may have been alot worse had I been a customer and not working at the store.
Sorry, my love cannot be bought. And if it could, you obviously don't have enough in your account to do so.

I agree. It would be just like a child to walk right past someone cleaning and go about her business. Besides, just because he knows better than to start cleaning while a child is in the room doesn't mean that the child's mother knows he knows better. Or something.
