  • Threatned by a lady at the drive thru.

I am back at KFC/Taco Bell and I was working the drive-thru tonight. Now I hate working drive thru everyone is an a hurry and the register set up is not easy to get used to.

It was around 8 at night and a lady came up to the window. As I was leaning out to ake the money I heard her say "I had a long day and if you piss me off, i'll pull you through that window." Now I do not take kindly to threats especially from customers after a long day at work. It took every ounce of moral stregnth I had to not say something back to her. I just looked at her with a smile on my face and said "Yes Ma'am I understand that will be $10.59." After she got her food and was about to drive away, I put on the biggest rin I could muster, and said "have a GREAT evening."

Sometimes I wish I was a manager that way I could have told her "Ma'am you just threatned me and I am going to ask you to leave."

What I wanted to say is "Leave NOW and if I ever see you again, I will pull you through this window, if you could fit."

...You technically could have told her to leave... she "threatened you personally, and made you feel unsafe" you would have every legal right to tell her to bugger off

Why can't you just refuse to serve her after a threat like that? Or tell her to fuck off and then deny it saying she's covering for herself for threatening you with physical violence? It's a mad mad world

At *big box retail* we're not allowed to tell a customer off or tell them to leave. Only management can do that. So if someone is lewd, crude or just plain rude, I can't tell them to leave.

              But.

That doesn't mean I have to serve them. If I am offended/threatened/etc, I am well within policy to stop the transaction and tell the customer I won't be able to continue their transaction. I'll call a manager over to help them. That's right, buddy, sit back on your laurels and wait for a manager.

I've yet to do this, however. I'm a big girl and can handle most things on my own.

I don't think we have any of those here... We have a couple of KFC/Long John Silver's, but...There's always the sneaking suspicion that the chicken and the fish used the same oil >_< ewwww.

Doesn't really make much of a difference, tho. KFC is a very very distant third place among fast food greasy chicken in this town, a position they share, ironically enough, with Pizza Hut in their own purview. You actually have to go out of your way to find either in most parts of town. As for LJS, I don't think they even HAVE a standalone shop. Too many places to get really good seafood here >_>

Anyone else read about the cop in Denver who pulled his gun on McDonald's employees because he thought they were taking too long?

Ah, the Cluckin' Bell. I had good experiences with the main one I used to go for my chicken, or my "Mexican" food. Then wait times started to get pretty ridiculous, and then there was the day I just said "No" when I saw the huge lines. (That would be the day of the infamous Oprah promotion or whatever.)

Seriously, though, the second someone threatens you, refuse service and walk away. There's never any call for it, especially when it's unprovoked.

You read my mind. I've had things like this happen to me as well, but over the phone. These imbeciles start out with rudeness and unpleasantness, but then report you as "This is the worst service I've ever had, and nobody has ever treated me with such disrespect before! I demand you fire this person!" all because you didn't stoop to their level, or you asked them to tone down the language. And, of course, you know they've pulled that line elsewhere to the point where this is a habit or career they have, getting people fired anywhere they do business.

That policy sounds like it's in violation of business law. I believe a business has a right to refuse service to anyone regardless of who is doing the refusing. It's BS that you have to wait for a manager before you can refuse someone.

Very true. I worked with friends at a McD's and we refused service to quite a few people at the drive thru for being threatening. We had douchy managers who tried to tell us otherwise, but you definitely do not need to serve someone who makes you feel threatened. The worst time it happened to me I called the cops from my cell (he was harrassing a LOT of people in the and they not only took the guy in but also gave my manager hell for expecting me to deal with someone who was for all intents a psycho. I love the popo...
