A woman comes into my store and she has a case for Call of Duty: World at War, with a Call of Duty 4 game disc inside it...
SC: My boyfriend bought this while in <out of state town>, is there any way you can swap it out for the right game?
Me: Did he buy it at one of our stores?
SC: I don't know, he might have. You have stores in <town>?
I check and it turns out we have exactly ONE store in that town. I call and speak with the Manager who checks into it and finds exactly no evidence of an error made on their part. I might also mention this disc was VERY scratched up...and the SC had no receipt
Me: We do have one store there, I called them but they said there was no evidence of any error being made there regarding this game.
SC: Maybe it was bought at <competing store> or something. Can you still swap it out?
Me: Unfortunately not.
SC: That's not fair...I have no way to get back there, it was bought over 100 miles away and this is NOT the game I want.
Me: I do sympathize with your situation ma'am, but there's really little I can do.
SC: Can I get anything for it?
Me: <gives trade in value>
SC: That's IT??! That's ridiculous, I paid $40 for this thing.
Me: Well I can only give you what the computer tells me I can.
SC: Can't you just do me a favor? Please? You've got like 10 copies of that other game.
Me: I can't do an even swap ma'am
SC: (whiny) Whyyyyyyy not?
Me: Well for one you don't have a receipt, two I can't even confirm it was one of our stores your bought it at and three, we don't do even swaps as a general rule anyway.
SC: But that's not fair. I can't afford to drive all the way back up there and get this fixed, I don't even know where it was bought.
And this is my problem how...?
Me: I don't know what to tell you, but all I can do is take it as a trade in towards the game you actually wanted to get.
SC: That's not fair to me though, I mean it's not my fault they put the wrong game in there.
Me: It's not ours either.
SC: I shop with you guys all the time, can't you help me out this once? I really need this game.
Me: Once again no I can't, all I can offer is a trade in. If you don't want to do that, then there's nothing more that can be done.
SC: Fine, I'm never shopping here again. *stomps off in a huff*
Out of touch much?
A quickie but a goodie.
SC: Do you have Pac-Man for the PS3?
Me: No sir, they don't make that for PS3.
SC: That sucks, why don't they make games for these things that people want to play?!

(Just spend $40 and get a Gamecube and Namco museum...it's not complicated)
Your faith in humanity is much greater than mine
I won't use "SC" because this person wasn't sucky.
C: Has anyone been in there today looking for some money they lost?
Me: ...no...
C: Oh well, has anyone turned in any money they found? My boyfriend left some money in your store yesterday.
Me: No, no one has turned it in.
C: Ok, my name is Jane Doe and my number is XXX-XXXX, if anyone turns in any money they found can you call me?
Me: Sure thing.
I probably should have been straight up with her, but seriously? That money is GONE, long gone. You probably wouldn't have any luck finding it one hour later let alone one whole DAY. I can honestly say in all my years in customer service, I've never had anybody turn in money. Wallets I've had, but never money.
