So CW the other day was working the service desk. She is not feeling well at all and the only thing getting her through the day is that it's only a 4 hour shift and she has the next two days off to rest. So she's already in a not so good mood. Then she gets some kids coming to cash a check for their mom but our system won't cash it since it's a new account and you have to build some history here at Kroger before you can cash you're first check. And there's no way to override it so we had to say sorry can't cash it.
The mom then called the store and yelled at CW and me about it saying the usual, she shops their all the time, she's a loyal customer, this is ridiculous, blah blah blah. She demands the corporate number and I give her the number to the corporate department that handles checks and told her they'll tell her the same thing, that there's nothing we can do you have to build history with the account first before you can cash your first check.
So CW is not in a good mood being sick and already having a customer yell at her when this guy comes up.
He comes in with a wine bottle asking for an exchange. CW explains that once alcohol has left the building we can't do any refunds or exchanges. So what does this wonderful understanding citizen do in response! Why throw the wine bottle in CWs general direction hitting the back wall with a bang that causes everyone on the front end to turn and stare at the guy and he storms out. Man he sure told us!
I of course go ask what happened and CW (who is now in tears) explains. So I come in to finish the next persons Western Union transaction so she can have a moment to collect herself and get all the emotions out. The next few customers in line try to comfort her and once the line dies I gave her a good hug. I just feel bad for her as everyday she comes in she gets all the nasty customers that yell at her, and she was near her breaking point.
It just sucks that she gets most of the assholes and I just hear about them and only deal with SCs on occasion since I don't interact with customers that much anymore. But man what a dick, sorry but I can't do anything for you, no need to take it out on us.
