Now now, don't be so quick to judge. He may have been about to say "The Nazis had the right idea about beer-brewing"

Edit: Also, I'm English, German, French, and Irish. I like to go to war with myself.

But wouldn't you have to also negotiate cease-fires and peace settlements with yourself?

Yes, but you have no idea how annoying it is when my left arm tries to blow up my torso so it can declare its independence.

I don't know what History Channel you guys get but the History Channel that comes to my house seems show nothing but shows about fishing boats, loggers, and Nostradomus.
          That's Discovery Channel.

But yes... Nazi's... And me without my Apache leader... Damn...
Maybe we could find a beautiful German actress to join the Allies and get us into the movie premier to blow up Hitler?

Well the history channel does have the logger show and often shows stuff on Nostradamus (as does the Discovery channel), but I'm not aware of any fishing show on the History Channel.

I miss what the history channel used to be years ago. It used to have a great show on the 20th Century, and would focus on stuff OTHER than WWII - i.e. the first years of the cold war, the peace movement in the 60s, etc.

yes, where i'm at, the history channel doesn't show nazi related documentaries every night; this was the first one in about a month or so...but still, the mentality (or lack of) that fosters that level of hate is staggering.
              look! it's ghengis khan!

What's so great about being a Nazi?
Other than riding around in Mercedes, BMW, and Auto Union staff cars?

That was sarcasm, folks Seriously though, it's annoying that people like that are still around. They all need to go somewhere, and leave the rest of us normal ("normal" being subjective) people alone. And yes, the History Channel does have a lot of WWII programming on lately. But, it's not all about that--they had one on the autobahn that was pretty cool.

Hey, just be thankful no part of you is Swiss. Can you imagine if one bit just decided to step away from every other bit?

Check this out. My GF and I used to dine regularly at this one restaraunt... excellent Prime Rib on Sat and Sun.

They did a thing for a while where on Wednesdays, a guy with a keyboard would play, and you could sing into a mic. The restaraunt catered to an older clientele mostly, so there were lots of old OLD standards crooned. I happen to like that stuff.

I sang a Tom Lehrer and an Allen Sherman version of some familiar old standards, then gave the pianist the sheet music for Spike Jones' Der Fuehrer's Face.
When I sang that, the whole place stopped and everyone was turned craning their necks, going , "Who's singing THAT? Why, it's that quiet young fellow! There was much merriment and laughter. As I was leaving, one old lady muttered something darkly to me that I didn't hear.

Next time we went, the manager told me I couldn't sing that song anymore, because it offended someone. Turns out, the old lady was a little girl in Germany during WWII and supported Hitler!

We never felt the same about the place and stopped going not long after. I always dropped at least $50 on dinner and drinks and usually tipped $20. The old lady would nurse one drink the whole night. Smart move, siding with the Hitler lover!
Suckiness is reinforced up OR down at every transaction. Accepting BS makes them worse for all of us; firm fairness trains them to suck less.

Wow, I hope he was talking about the beer...

*Just looked up Der Fuehrer's Face* Oh my, that's a funny song... That manager probably lost a LOT of points with his other patrons, too, since everyone ELSE found it funny.

Isn't that a bit like saying that there was a cooking show on the Food Network.
Damn you people for having daywalker work schedules and/or plenty of free time.

I was thinking that reading the first quote, and was about to snark about it before I saw y'all beat me to it.

It really is. Today I watched part of a Nazi propaganda film about the Jews (had to run errands before I finished it), and it is simply staggering. Especially with, you know, me being Jewish and all. It's much different reading about it than actually seeing what they were saying from the source. Wow. Just....wow.

He actually told you she was a Hitler supporter? A spineless manager like that doesn't seem like the type that would have the balls to actually admit something like that, to be honest.

That being said, if he had told me that, and the reason, I would have fixed him with the Patented Jester Icy Death Glare normally reserved for wife beaters, racists, and boys who date my teenage nieces, and said, "I'm sorry you feel that way. Apparently it is more important to you to please one old Nazi hag than to allow the rest of your clientele to enjoy themselves with some fun and frivolity. Well, I shall not darken your door any longer, and shall spend my money and enjoy my evenings elsewhere. And I shall make sure everyone I know is aware of your policies on such matters. Good DAY, sir!" And I would have left in a Mighty Huff.

But that's just me. I excel at being a self-righteous arrogant haughty bastard.

, having a fascination with that topic. (Notice I said "fascination," not "admiration.")
Me too...when I was in high school I took a class called "Human Conscience" (originally called "Conscience of Man" but that was deemed politically incorrect ) that focused on the Holocaust (we also watched Mississippi Burning and read about the murder of Kitty Genovese, but mostly it was Nazis).
