  • Yet more proof that people don't read...

My company has just won contracts to supply 2 new counties with electric and gas, so decided they'd send out a welcome pack on Friday to all the new customers. The very first line of the pack was "Crumpetshire County Council has appointed My Company to supply you with gas and electricity from 1st October", followed by a 10 page booklet on who we are, what we do, and a personal page for each one saying what it meant to them, including when each site came onto contract with us.

10:30am Monday morning. A phone call.

"Does this mean you're supplying us with electricity now? When did that happen?"

Makes you wonder why you bother...

You know, sometimes all I can do is sigh, shake my head, and moooove on.

Terribly sorry, by the way. But, at least the answer is easy enough to give them. That's marginally better than when they ask impossible questions, right?

    Right?

The sad thing is, that was from someone who bothered to open the letter and at least read enough of it to get your phone number. The real suck is going to come later in Oct, Nov, Dec from those who didn't open the letter and very likely threw it straight in the trash.

Ten pages?! But who has the hours and hours of time it would take to read that? Plus you didn't even include a dictionary so that they can look up the hard words.

Yes, it does make one wonder why we even bother. After all you state that you were supplying the electricity and the date that you would be switching over. You even provide a nice pamphlet explaining the details.

With certain people, it wouldn't help if you were to get someone to come over to their house to explain the details with a flip chart and a puppet show.
