Sometimes people get married or divorced or we "accidentily" printed names wrong on ID cards. (I say we do it on accident but 50% of the time someone entered in his/her OWN name wrong!)
Me: humble peon
D: Doofus
DG: Doofus's female companion
D: My name was printed wrong
Me: Ok do you have a license with the correct name.
D: oh . . . naw. It has my nickname. *is that even legal???*
Me: Ok where is the mistake in your name?
Sidenote: We have people fill out a waiver for proof of purchase kind of thing. Now, logically, you would write out the full correct spelling on this waiver. But I suppose that is only if you think logically.
The misspelling was in his middle name, and he had two middle names. He writes his name as John P.M. Smith. When he hands me the card I see the obvious first misspelling of the first middle name. I fix it and hand him the new ID.
D: *turns to leave*
DG: *double checks my handiwork* Doofus! Tell her she did it wrong! Don't let her walk all over you like that! Make her do her job!
D: *just stands there for a minute while a line forms behind him* oh. . .
Me: Was there something else?
D: . . . . yea. . . . um. . . . . this letter is suppose to be capitalized. (Ex: O'neill vs. O'Neill)
DG:*as they leave with the final version* I can't believe that took so long (around 5 minutes!). This university seriously hires incompatant people. She should have done it right the first time.
It was really just annoying. Write out your full, correct name.
Does anyone know if it is legit to just have your nickname on your license? (Ex: Drew instead of Andrew)
