  • The stupidity stuns me on this one

The SC walked into the store and put a movie on the counter and looked like he needed assistance, so I go up to him and ask how I can help him.

It helps to know that the movie is one of our favorites, Clerks II.

SC: "This movie was not appropriate at all for my young boys."
Me: *silence...the stupidity hurt me on this one*
SC: "Can I exchange this for something else? or am I screwed?"
Me: "Well, the rental box clearly states that this is rated R and so does the Cover box....sorry, there is nothing I can do."
SC: "Fine, keep it then" *storms off*
Me: "We cannot guarantee that you will like the movies you rent, that is your decision to rent a particular title."

I wonder what part pushed him over the edge! I bet it was the "ass-to-mouth" part, haha!!

I knew a guy who used to work in a video store that was well-known for selling anime along with the mainstream movies. Some of the anime they sold was pornographic but the names never gave the hint. Parents would buy their kids these videos because guess what it's a cartoon so nothing can be bad about it right? He actually stopped a customer from buying a video because in his words "Uh ma'am, this movie has uh, a lot of rape in it."

Nah... he's probably a LOTR fanatic.

i got someone demanding their money back after taking their young kid to see some R rated movie which was one of the more explicit ones if i remember correctly, it might have even been one that we specifically checked id for
i wish i could remember which movie because it was obviously not for kids both on title preview and everything else

So, he's renting R rated movies for his 'young boys' and he's surprised the movie isn't appropriate? *blinks* WHAT about Clerks II did he think WAS goign to be appropriate, I wonder!

I get this in my store too, people buying Grand Theft Auto for their damn kids. We legally can't sell it to kids, but if a parent's with them, I always make sure they know it's not appropriate. I don't think it helps, because I still get people looking for a PC that Little Billy can play his mowing-down-hookers sim on. Do rental stores require parents to sign some of thing making themselves liable for anything they rent for their kids? If not, they sure as hell should.

kinda reminds me of when i saw snakes on a plane. a couple walked out about 20 mins into it when they realized it was not appropriate for their two under age 10 kids.

Gawdzillers, in terms of type of rape that happened in that movie there was plenty of tentacle and normal stuff, I should ask him what else was in that film, he is into some very strange stuff and even more.

The worst was when "Team America" came out...I mean...it has PUPPETS! Therefore it is Obviously appropriate for your 9 year old...
