  • Waste of a Paycheck (long)

This woman was a mean bitch. I suspect she was a scammer also.

Our ATMS go down frequently. They affect the whole strip because most of the casinos have the same ATM outside company that we do. Anyway, so they went down of course there is hell to pay.

We repeatedly warned this woman to NOT use the machine because we were calling the company to have it fixed. She used it anyway, repeatedly. I didn't know this--my co workers told me later.

Before she became a sc: I realize your ATMS are down and I tried using it a few times, will this affect my account?

Me: Not if it never said approved. If they're not working it shouldn't have gone through...

    RIGHT? Wrong. I think.

The supervisor left to go get lunch. The lead stayed for awhile and said she'd be back and went to get a burger real quick. And what happens as soon as she's out the door? SC!

SC: *looks at me rudely in cw's window* I knew this would happen! SHe told me that my account would be fine but we are short 1,000 dollars! What are YOU going to do about it?

CW is from another shift where for some unknown reason have a different set of rules. She didn't want to hear the woman bitch cuz there were no supervisors available so she called a pit boss who has even less control over the issue than we do. Granted they are higher than our higher ups but they know less about the situation.

What CW should have done was offer the number to contact the outside company and told them our supervisor will be back shortly.

So, the woman starts ranting and raving at the pit boss who showed up. He didn't have a clue what to tell her because that's not really his department. We tried to explain to her that it will go back in.

Now, there was no way for us to know if she had already gotten her money and was raising a stink, or if she had already pulled money out somewhere else and just wanted free crap.

Finally our lead comes back and goes out there to catch this:

SC: (to pit boss) I think for all the stress I have been caused I should get free rooms and food!

    Everybody else:

    Seriously?

SC: You will do this or I will pack my things RIGHT NOW!

PB: Ma'am calm down, we will figure this out...

SC: I demand it or I will run through your casino screaming at the top of my lungs how You people STOLE my money and your casino SUCKS!

    Everybody again:

I wish she had cuz then we could have 86'd her.

The cage lead was trying to explain to the PB that we can't just hand her money because he was starting to walk away.

SC: You better be going to get me my free stuff!

PB: I can't just authorize that...

SC: You shouldn't even be wearing a suit! Can't even give free rooms. You are a waste of a paycheck!

At that point I would have said fine and walked away from the bitch.

PB: I haven't denied you anything. (and he walks away)

She is still screaming and bitching.

CL is trying to calm her down and PB comes back and tells her she gets her free stuff. She calms down a bit and leaves.

Few days later I have to cash her out and she's all happy but was wearing the same outfit I had orignally seen her in. I was wondering if they're local (her husband was there too) and pull this shit every once and awhile. CL said she thought she recognized her.

So yes, if you want free stuff insult everybody and have a bitch storm.

You know, from the title of the topic I thought at first it was about the woman having her paycheck eaten by the out of order ATM (when she tried to deposit it; I think some newer ATMs let you deposit checks somehow...).

*nods* They do basically it puts your check into a separate slot holds it you tell your account how much your depositing your pay check goes in a special envelope that holds the check and acts like a deposit slip. It is so that you can deposit checks after hours. Personally I don't trust it I like to witness money being applied to my account.

Glad I'm not the only one. My roommate thinks I'm totally over paranoid about this. But I just like to be able to deposit it, get an instant receipt, and know that it was applied then. Not a receipt by a machine that can't really witness what you deposited so if for some reason the check gets "lost", you really have no verification you put a check of that amount or even if you put anything in at all. I mean even if the teller lies and says she didn't see a check, you have a reciept from a person saying that they verified at least seeing a check of that amount (or cash) before they gave you a receipt which is more than a machine that can't really verify much at all.

It takes a picture of both sides of the check as it goes through, reading the account and routing info as it does so.

It's the same exact type of device as the one I have sitting on the next desk for when my company does deposits. We run the checks through the reader, it prints a code on the back of the check and takes an image scan of both sides as it goes through. We transmit that data to the bank (after verifying the info, because it's not perfect), and it gets deposited into the bank almost immediately.

We've never had anything lost, and we deposit at least 50 checks per week this way and have been doing so for years.

You're actually no safer dealing with a person than with the teller. Since the person you're dealing with is going to be running the check through the same exact system as if you'd put it in the ATM. You get a receipt in either case (if you choose to have the ATM print one; I don't waste the paper).

I'd be surprised if the process for tracking down a lost deposit check was any different for either system. Although I suspect the chances for a deposit going astray are probably higher with a teller vs an ATM, but likely only marginally.
