    why should i hook a racist up?

    i get a call from a customer who right away asks if the call is recorded and than this is how it rolls:

    me- opening spiel* spiel*

    sc- is this call recorded

    me- yes sir

    sc- well id like to say F*u rick trimano

    me- .............

    sc- anyways i need some help my internet is not working and you need to fix it for me

    me- sure sir let me verify some security first what is the phone number on your account

    sc- why do you need the phone number

    me- to open your account

    sc- wheres all the "WHITE POWER" in here god da***

    me- sorry about that sir but thats one of the ways we have to open your account

    sc- ok fine (gives me number)

    me- are you the account holder

    sc- no my mom is ( dude sounds old btw)

    me- well i have to ask sir for the last 4 digits of her social since your name is not on the account

    sc- are you F*** serious F*** is there anyway else you can get by that

    me- unfortunately not sir i apoligize for that

    sc- come on hook me up man

    me- sorry sir there is no way i can get around this verification

    sc- can i ask you a question

    me- yes sir

    sc- what color are you

    me- i cannot answer that question i apologize sir

    sc- you know why ya cant

    me-...........

    sc- because your a F*** Nig*** *click*


    wowsers that was my sec call from yet another rude profanity using cust that had something personal against me and im not even african american. are new policy states we can no longer for any reason hang up on a cust we must simply express are sympothy and be apologetic and at trhe most pass it on to a supervisor.

    What a bull policy that is. I loved when a customer dropped some foul language, I'd hang up on their ass instantly.

    What a moron though. Whether you like other races or not, rules are rules. You've got to follow some kind of security protocol.

      And who says minorities are the only ones who get to play a race card?

      This guy seems to have that same proverbial chip on his sholder that so many racists have (and racism/prejudice is not exclusively white). I really wonder where that anger comes from.

          Racist or not, if he had given you the correct information, it would be your responsibility to hook him up.
          The personal beliefs of our customers aren't really our concern.

          In this case, the guy didn't have permission on the account, so denying him was fine, but if he had been the correct account holder, he would still be entitled to service.
          Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

            Hooking him up in this case meant, "Give me the hook up man" as in don't make me follow the same procedures as everyone else let me do business with you without verifying security.

                I do that where I work now, and it was our GM's "official" policy back at DaddyJim's... If a customer cursed at us (meaning, obviously directed towards us) we immediately hung up without a word and alerted anyone else nearby who was on phones. The others would do the same until the asshat either gave up or got the message. It usually didn't take more than 3 tries

                  Yeah, but if he hadn't been an arsehole, there might have been other verification methods to use that they could have gone to. Since he's a racist dick-twiddler, why bother expending any effort?

                        Having a policy where you can't hang up is wrong on so many levels and I'm sorry you have to deal with it. People are entitled to their views, but playing the buddy buddy card about such views is deeply unsettling. *shakes head*

                          Jeez. Even working at the pizza place, we were allowed, nay, encouraged, to hang up on abusive dickweeds. O_o One guy even got permabanned from there for screaming curses down the phone three times. We had a "three strikes and you're out" policy.

                            I can't imagine not being able to hang up on people for any reason. That's a terrible policy. When I worked for the credit card company, we were allowed to hang up on customers who started personally attacking us. Some people spewed some vile stuff (one lady said she hoped everyone I loved would hurt me and abandon me when I couldn't waive her late fee) and I would have lost it if I couldn't hang up on them.

                            And ugh, people who get pissy about verifying things are extra sucky.
