  • Was my father / I SCs?

This happened about 2 weeks ago, i forgot about it until I read the "dumb questions customers ask" Thread. I dont know why it triggered my memory, but it did.

    Story:
    1. We ordered a pizza and 20 wings from Pizza hut, they say it'll be about an hour
    2. hour and a half goes by, I phone and ask about it, they tell me they will send it out right away with a free dessert for the inconvenience
    3. We get the pizza, and it was ice cold, so my father refuses to take it because Pizza hut is extremely expensive and we were no where near satisfied. (We didn't freak out at the delivery guy though, we knew it wasnt his fault)
    4. My dad phones them back and talks to the manager about it, tells him why we didnt exept it and asked for a new one etc. He also was trying to nudge a chearper pizza.
    5. He told the manager to do whatever she decided was best to keep us as customers then said bye and hung up
    6. We recieved it with a dessert and nothing else other than what we orederd. We havent ordered from them since

I was just wondering if we were SCs or if it was valid. We didn't yell or anything, we stayed calm while doing so, but still...

    No, you weren't SCs.
Me? I would have accepted the free dessert and the cold pizza and been happy, but I like cold pizza, so...

If you've been satisfied with them overall prior to this, I wouldn't drop them over this one incident.

Well, as long as you really DID time it so it was an hour and a half, I don't see why not. (Not that I'm accusing you; it's just that when I was waiting tables people loved to say that they were waiting "X" amount of time for their food when I can just check the time I put in the order and the time it is on the same clock; it just seems that the customer has a different perception of time).

It's also good that you went about in a calm manner; I think I would have done the same thing. If you're paying the same amount of money that someone would get for a hotter, fresher pizza, then yes, you have a valid complaint there.

I understand about the whole price thing because they are a bit high but that's why I choose not to order from there...Speaking from experience it really is hard to estimate a correct time on delivery because things happen and noone can trully say for sure the exact amount of time it will take...alot of people do not answer when the delivery driver calls and directions given are most of the time not accurate . I would be irritated to but mistakes are made and I am sure they were busy and miscalculated the time..

My hubby works at Pizza Hut, his deliveries always take an insane amount of time, sometimes upwards of 2 hours. It's only because there simply aren't enough delivery drivers though. I'd say, if you don't raise your voice and don't start throwing a tissy fit, then that doesn't elevate you to SC status. When I was managing a pizza restaurant years ago, people who were complaining, yet still decent to me, I still didn't have a problem giving them what they wanted or coming to a compromise.

If you still like Pizza Hut, you should probably give them another try, especially if this is the first (or only) time they goofed. Mistakes happen. Probably be best not to order pizza on a busy night though if you want a decent delivery time. Or just call and ask what is their delivery time before making the order.
