In a way, though, it is his money. Every bad decision like this makes for less money for raises or at least giving more hours out. I know,I know. I can hear the more bitter of us claiming that no one gives raises anyway, but let's play real here. More shrink means less profit to sink back into the business.
Not only that, but it puts upward pressure on prices as well. So caving to putzes like this actually harms every reasonable customer (unreasonable ones too, I guess, but meh - scroom).

There was a post on a previous incarnation of the site by a poster I miss a great deal these days. I believe she worked for a contractor of some kind, and was in Lowe's Depot buying a huge amount of supplies when some completely-in-the-wrong whiner was about to get the manager to cave and hang the associate out to dry. Our heroine threatened to walk on her huge order if the SC got his way, thereby giving the manager an excuse to grow a pair. We need more people willing to do this.

I've got an NES I'm willing to trade in for a PS3. I think they were about the same price, brand new, weren't they? Even swap.
Wait up. I'll go with you. I still have my old NES, and a bunch of games.

Hmm I have my Atari 2600, NES, and Coleco Vision, so that could get me a WII, XBox 360 and a PS3

Did you even have to ask?

I'm assuming this is the same regional manager who told you she doesn't want you spouting policy to customers; you're supposed to just give them what they want. SO naturally that should extend to proving you actually bought something from the store you say you bought it from.
Yeah that'd be the same person alright. I'm thinking of starting a store pool and taking bets on when she'll lose her job.

And the reason it upset me is because the regional manager lady made me look like a moron because I refused to do something that was incredibly UNREASONABLE and in most companies wouldn't be allowed.

Am I the only one that wouldn't trade my old systems for a current gen one?

I still have my original '89 GameBoy with Pokémon Yellow.. and you can't have it!!

...I could use some new PS2 controllers, though.

What's really sad is that displays like this only prove that all you have to do is yell and scream and you will get your way.
I agree with you 100%. This man should have been held to the same rules a polite customer is held to, but now this man thinks all he has to do to get his way is throw a fit.

I tell my children that throwing a fit will not get them what they want, but then they see things like this and wonder if behaving like a spoiled 2 year old child is the way to get what they want.

If I ever actually *used* my old one, I wouldn't trade it in. However, the last time I touched it was to pack it in the box it's in. About 10 years ago. I don't think I'll miss it. Besides, I still have my SNES, N64, 3 Game Boy variants, and my Wii with the Virtual Console.

Why are you upset about this? Think about it: it isn't your money the company is losing. If the regional manager says it's ok, then let the consequences be on her head and let it go.
I'm upset about it, and I don't even work there. It pisses me off that sucky people throwing a tantrum like a two-year-old get rewarded for their bad behavior. If anyone should get special treatment, it should be the good customers.

What usually happens in these sort of situations is that the head honcho works out what their time is worth and how easy it is to get rid of one annoyance, not to mention cost-effective. What they don't see is the pillock coming back time and again, as well as them telling all their friends.

I am thinking about getting a new gaming system. Would you folks suggest a Wii, a PS3, or an XBOX 360? I figure I can get any one of them in return for this cool digital kitchen time I have. I mean, it's what I as a customer really WANT!

Now, as for the regional manager, I can help you deal with this slug trail of a boss. All I'll need is a soundproofed room with a locking door, some duct tape, my trusty Louisville Sluggers, a bag of fresh lemons, a paring knife, a stereo with a CD player, some AC/DC CD's, some Guns n' Roses CD's, a CD with the song "Stuck in the Middle with You," a bacon cheeseburger, and a Fanta orange soda.

                        And NO questions!

You're not the only one. I would never trade my NES or SNES.

Too true. I wish I could witness something like this so that I could intervene and get the SC to shut up. I could use the release of tension and help someone who's only trying to do their job and is being accosted by a moron.

Because spineless management tells the customer that YOU don't know how to do your job.
