  • How rude are you sir ?!?!

This story goes waaaaay back to when I was working at an indoor theme park, doing my daily duties when all of a sudden a guest approaches me with a mobile phone reportiing it as someone has lost it. I thank the guest for handing it in and provide them with some game tokens as a reward for handing it in (I always keep my own little stash for various reasons)

Now since I can't leave where I've been assigned to one of my work colleagues comes back from having dealt with some guests in another part of the complex, I hand the mobile phone to him and he takes it out to the Lost & Found section out the front.

Next thing I know, I have this grumpy guest in my face demanding where his mobile phone is ... uhh hello I'm not a psychic nor clairvoyant so I can't read your mind as to what kind of phone it is.

"I SAW you were handed a mobile phone only a few moments ago ... I want to know where it is, who that person you handed it to is etc .. " I didn't provide him the name of the staff member I handed it to, however I gave him directions on how to locate our Lost & Found kiosk .. Turns out this guy was actually an undercover police officer, who more than likely lost his phone on purpose to see what would be done with it ... like hello I'm not going to steal it because I had one of my own at the time ..

So that was supposed to be a horribly failed attempt at some sort of sting operation? O.o

LMAO! There's not enough real crime in your city so the cops have to run a lame assed undercover thievery sting at an indoor theme park? Fail.

Wow, that was just stupid and sad. What if a less honest person had picked-up his phone?

          ok... worst sting EVER.

that'd be like me leaving my car parked, door open, keys in ignition still RUNNING.

and going into a store for 3 hours then crying 'thief' when i come back and lo and behold my car would be missing lol.

If you intentionlly 'lose' something in order to report it stolen... yea... that just doesn't work. lol

Youve obviously have never seen the show "Bait car"...A cop will park and leave on an SUV or some other desirable car in front of a group of people...go running away from the car with the car ON and RUNNING and the door open and leave the area on some pretense (one was a "pregnant" female jumping into another car.)...worst show ever.. but entertaining somehow...

I can do you one better; Our FedEx pickup guy left his van running one morning. It wasn't there when he went back out with our packages.

The guy lost his job (they have zero tolerance for that sort of stuff), but they had a good idea who jacked the van, since it was a pick-up route, and so the only reason to take it would be because someone knew about something valuable on it, such as the massive quantity of computer components a few stops before ours.

Normally, I refuse to accept as at all valid the idea that employees should be easy to terminate. "At-will" employment seems to violate the spirit of the 13th amendment. However, with something this classically stupid, leaving a shipping van running like that, it was quite what he deserved. Well, that and being expected to pay for what was lost.

Every time I see a car idling in front of a place with no one in it (the car) I am always tempted to hop in and move it a space or two over, just to fuck with the guy.

If I remember correctly, in NJ it's illegal (?) to have a car running if no one's in it.

If I'm wrong about that, let me know.

Over the past couple of days, i've had to keep my motor running because my car starter was going out, and i had an appointment for today to get it fixed. Once, it took me about 10 minutes to start my car for work. Lucky, it is now working with a new starter, so no more car idling whilst i go inside for a pack of gum.

I saw a cop car idling out in front of the Uni-mart one time, with no one in it. Can you imagine how much trouble he'd be in if someone stole it?
