I had a guy come in the store yesterday with his little girl. We were running a Buy 2, get 1 free sale on certain games. The man wanted to return two of the games they bought, including the one they got for free. As such, they should get full credit back for the game they paid for and no credit back for the free one (since there was no cost to begin with). The guy opted to buy two new games to replace the ones that he was returning.
Problem.
The two new games were not part of the buy 2 get 1 free sales promotion. So essentially he ended up having to pay full price for one of the new games plus some extra on the other new game (since it was more than the returned game he actually paid for). He argued with me endlessly that he should get the full sticker price back on the game he got for free because he was returning it. I explained to him multiple times that was NOT the case. He accused me of ripping him off on the games. I pointed out that actually he was trying to get us to give him $20 to which he was not entitled, he again went through the whole spiel about how he allegedly deserved this $20.
I eventually deferred to my manager and after going through the whole thing twice more, it was determined that no, I didn't make a mistake and the transaction was handled properly. I was worried that management, who usually gives in to customers almost all the time, would give this guy the $20 to which he was certainly NOT entitled. Thankfully that didn't happen.
