A truly Sucky Customer

I tried to go back to work today after mine and Lady Legira's bereavement. I was fine for the first two or so hours and I was nearing a break, I hadn't been the happy smiling customer assistant on which a couple of customers mentioned but more in the way saying I looked tired type thing to which I said I had had a difficult Christmas and then they wished me a better new year.

Until this snotty women turned up was served politely but quietly by me and then turned around and said "You do know that it is your company's policy to smile. You look as miserable as sin." I explained what had happened and then she turned around and said "Well you shouldn't be in work then." and stalked off. I began to serve the next woman then broke down in tears and was taken off and treated with great respect by everyone I came into contact with at work.

Sometimes it amazes me how callous some people can be. After all the stories I've read maybe I shouldn't be but wow.

Sorry that you had to deal with the humbug dregs of society. She should hope that no one treats her like that in a similar situation.

I'm sorry this happened to you. If this person didn't want to show empathy, she could at least have kept quiet seeing as she didn't really have a complaint about your service.

This is the same kind of person who would complain that a person in your situation was a whiner if they had taken "too much" time off to grieve. Hmph.

Wow. Just wow. If that had happened to me, I'm not sure how I would have reacted, but I'm sure it would have involved some four-letter words, and that would just be a warm-up.

You and me too! I can take a lot of shit from people, but even I have a breaking point...and that bitch (being nicely, folks ) would have pushed me over the line. Sure, that line is very generous and it takes awhile to get there...but once you've crossed it... I'll hurt you

For example, after my grandmother's auto accident, I was a bit pissed. (For those who don't know, she was in a serious accident back in '94. Some redneck asshole in a gravel truck rear-ended her car...pushing it into the path of a logging truck coming the other way. That semi hit her head-on, and severely injured my cousin and grandmother.) Pissed because it happened, but also because I couldn't do anything to help her. Even so, I had to keep things in check, lest I strangle someone. I was OK, until I'd found out that my uncle had welcomed the other driver into her room...and then took the guy over to where my cousin was. Needless to say, my aunt (his sister), told him to "get the fuck out."

Later that day, another aunt and I went to lunch with him. As we're eating, my uncle started going on about how he was a "good Christian, and didn't want to see the guy get punished." Trust me, it took all I had *not* to jump over the table and strangle him Had my aunt not been there, I probably would have not only done that, but ripped into him as well As it was, I had to contain myself by digging my fingers into the table!

At least I got to see my aunt have a go Although no four-letter words were used, it was still awesome. What can I say, other than she can be creative without cursing

I'm so sorry that happened, Bardmaiden. May your next day at work be full only of sympathetic and kindly people, who have more empathy than spite in their attitudes.
