~8~
this coulda turned out worse than it did:
CG: coffee guy
M:
CG: hi i'd like 8 grande coffees to go please
M: buh...8?
CG: yeah. 8 grandes.
M: well, that'll take a little bit. i'll need to brew some for ya
CG: don't you just have it?
M: no...we brew small batches so we always have fresh coffee.
CG: oh. well. whatever.
i go start it brewing. takes about 5 minutes or so. i'm sooooo glad he was understanding about it. but he did stare at me the entire time the coffee was brewing. i was doing other stuff (cleaning, whatever) and i think he expected me to watch the coffee drip and start filling cups the moment it was ready. ugh.
when the coffee's ready, i hand the travel trays to him and mention that next time if he called ahead, we'd have it all ready for him. he looked at me like i'm an idiot and said that he just expected us to have it.
...no tip, either. and after i put half&half in all 8 cups! *swoon* my life is so hard
~no ice~
so i overheard this on the drive through (wasn't working it today! *le gasp!*). a lady orders a venti iced green tea. we make a venti iced green tea. when C, the girl on drive, hands it to the lady, she gets all angry. "I wanted the ice in a separate cup."
...really? that's...i hate you.
~*twitch*~
so...i know this is america. we have all sorts of different cultures and people. different languages...i need a universal translator.
i had a woman and her son come in. he ordered, speaking perfect english. she ordered in english mixed with chinese. she asked for a hazelnut latte with not much milk.
...hm. well...what? i asked her to repeat it and she said the exact same thing. i explained to her what a latte is (espresso and steamed milk) and she seemed confused. after a few minutes and alot of miming, i figure out she wants an iced coffee with hazelnut and not much half&half.
why her son didn't ask her what she wanted in chinese and then tell me in english is beyond me. would've cut the transaction time in half. nice lady tho. smelled like incense.
~waaah! they're successful!!~
so this is more of a coworker complaint. i just didn't really want to open a new thread...
i was sweeping the lobby and J and M were behind the counter chatting. i over heard them...
J: so i was at the exchange today and they were playing *band* over the speakers
M: really? wow i didn't know they had become that popular
J: yeah. i don't think i like them any more. they're too mainstream.
and he was totally serious. he didn't like the band he was going on and on and on about a month ago because they're too popular. he used to play their cds in the back constantly. apparently J's a music snob...
~it's not you, really~
i went to work this morning at 7 in a fantastic mood. i was working with great people, good night's sleep, ect. i had a customer comment how i was always in a good mood. made my mood even better!
then M comes in. M is a shift lead and while i'm sure she's a lot of fun outside of work, she hates her job. and it kinda...permeates the air. whenever i work with her, i get all sorts of depressed because she's all sorts of depressed. it's like depression is contagious or something.
the same customer that commented on my good mood earlier came in towards the end of my shift. apparently it was obvious that my mood had changed cuz she commented on it. jokingly asked if it was something she did. i just said i was tired.
i don't know what it is...it doesn't matter how great my mood is. the moment i start working with M, i just want to go home and curl up in bed and hide from the world. uhg.
