  • Perhaps you shouldn't be so obvious next time

Little Background: The big retail store I work in right now is selling some limited high priceds items for a short promo, and has had a bit of a problem with theft of said items. I had happened to hear that one of the biggest hit has been the purses.

That being said I was working as front end supervisor last night, and saw this lady start pushing her cart towards the bathroom with one of these purses on top of her cart, normally I wouldn't think anything of it, but she actually took the cart in with her, a big no-no. So the investigator in me perked up right away, and I went into the restroom to "do the hourly restroom check". Got in, and so far so good, it's still in the cart so I finish the check and walk back out.

Lady stays in there for a good 5-10 minutes while I'm doing paperwork on one of the checklanes, comes out, and the purse is now under her coat, not completely covered, but obstructed. So my guts still telling me somethings up, so I call AP and tell them whats up and her description so they start watching her on the cameras. The lady then proceeds to get in and out of a checklane 4 different times, each time, pretendeing to be on her phone but not actually talking and walking away when I got close, so everytime she'd head to a specific lane the purse got more covered up, and I'd call the cashier and tell them heads up.

Eventually she went through to complete a transaction, and was about to pay when I walked by and said, "Oh, you forgot that purse under your coat ma'am" with a sickly sweet smile of course. She looked at me absolutely shocked at first, then gave me a nasty glare, but still bought the expensive purse, yay!

Man I hate when people take carts or unpaid for merch in the bathroom with them. What makes them think it's ok?!

That's awesome for pointing out the purse, I'd love to do that to someone

        Awesome that you caught her!

Ugh; I saw similar where I work, except the woman brought a cart full of merch into the restroom, stuffed it into her kids' backpacks, and left with them. Then she blamed the kids! It was really sad.

After I pointed it out, my heart was racing the rest of the night, while I knew I was right to say something, I felt almost bad for her, but she wasted 45 minutes of my time tracking her lol, it presented a rather fun challenge though.

As for the lady that blamed her kids, that just makes me sick, and unfortunatly those kids are most likely going to be raised thinking that kind of crap is okay.

Haha good on ya. Nice to see it was settled without someone getting hurt or causing conflict which I've been reading a lot about lately.

Does anyone remember the story about that woman who tried to teach her kids to steal during Christmas time?

It was a big scandal, for a day or two.

Last time I saw a customer bring unpaid merchandise into a restroom, it was stacks of 8' lumber.

Granted, I imagine his mindset was, "don't want anybody else taking it or putting it back on the shelf."

If the woman wasn't so sneaky, I would think that she didn't want to leave the item in the cart and someone else takes it for themselves.

At the library, people take books/cds/dvds/our laptops into the bathroom. One guy who was walking in the bathroom I stopped, and he was arguing with me about not wanting anyone else to get the book (it was The Godfather's Revenge) and even though I told him he could leave it at one of the desks, he argued with me. I asked him, "why are you arguing with me?" because I really wanted to know why he was, and then he wanted my name and what dept. I worked so he can complain about me And the manager took his side I should have handled it differently, I was told

Now we loan out laptops at the library and you sign an agreement, one rule is you can't take the laptop into the bathroom. What happened? One day one of our asshole customers was walking into the mens bathroom when I stop him and told him he can't do that. He gives me an incredulous look. I tell him take it to the laptop desk and they would hold it. I was hoping he would argue with me so we can finally ban him but he walked out of the bathroom and went toward the laptop desk. Granted, I walked away and for all I know he headed back to the bathroom with the laptop.

I bet if the guy left the laptop on the counter or on the floor and someone stold it he would say he shouldn't be responsible since he wasn't the one who stole it.

Anyway, latter on I found out that the laptop area isn't suppose to hold the laptops for people. I bet he started to argue with them.
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

I remember once this woman did that in the supermarket; she stood outside checkouts and sent her kids off to steal. The kids got caught, and the woman tried to blame the kids, but it was obviously her.

There was also the chavette girl who tried to do a runner with her formula one buggy stuffed with nappies, who, when nabbed by security, blamed the fact that nappies were so expensive as to the reason why she was stealing them.
People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life.
