I now want this for my front powder room!!!! That would be absolutely awesome! But first, I have to get rid of the all paper in that bathroom. And get new linoleum in there. Gah ... I get new windows and all of a sudden, I'm wanting to redecorate the entire house!
If you go this dark, make sure you have PLENTY of bright, clear light in there. I have a fixture with four sixty watt Reveal clear bulbs in there. ( Reveal bulbs have clear blue glass in them and give off an almost sunlight colored light.) This is important. You want your whites and chromes to really be WHITE and pop against all that dark paint. That's what makes it work.

As for the teal...I dunno what shade of teal, but you could try a bright yellow.

If it's a very blue teal, you could probably use white, red and chartreuse. Black accents. (Yes, I'm serious.

I have a friend who, inspired by my brown bathroom, painted his a very bold shade of very deep, rich blue. Kind of like a Wedgewood blue, only richer. Porcelain and cabinets are white. Then he went out and got towels and artwork in Wedgewood blue, teal green, crocus purple, and indigo blue. It baffles me that this is as beautiful as it is. But it's georgeous. Maybe you could see if colors like these work with your teal tile.

I'm in a decorating frenzy, now, too. I'm over the holidays and can get started again on my projects. Been working on drywall, but it's not the same. I was despairing of what color to paint the back wall of my kitchen. The green I put on there I hate. Just not working out. I bought a piece of tin for a backsplash for the stove and sink...and fell totally in love with it. So screw the paint color problem, I'm covering the entire back wall with tin now. It will look AMAZING if the sample I stuck up there is any indication.

I want to cover EVERYTHING with tin, I love it. I look at stuff now, start going "hmmm...." and then go "NO."

If he added a touch of bronze and antique gold it would look like a peacock feather

I thought brown bathrooms went out of style near the turn of the 1980's, just like brown kitchens did. I love watching reruns of "Let's Make A Deal" or "The Carol Burnett" show and seeing appliances of that color on there.

But really? Who has a brown bathroom, unless it's someone who has really crass bathroom habits.

How many posts did you read over of those of us who do infact have brown bathrooms?

That being said my home was produced in 1979...lots of wood panaling.

...colors for home decorations come in waves the same as they do with car colors.
One only has to watch reruns of The Brady Bunch to know that this is true.

Alternatively, one could simply grow up in the Seventies, as I did.

Who remembers burnt orange shag? Or the avacodo kitchen (GACK-a-mole)?
Did I mention I grew up in the Seventies?

As has already been pointed out, many on this site do.

I do not, but given that I inherited my mother's utter love of wood for furniture and in general, I can see myself having a wood bathroom...and thus a brown bathroom. (Unlike Mom, though, I love wood in general, not just light woods.)

If done right, a bathroom done predominantly in wood would be gorgeous, and by definition, brown. And you wouldn't even need "crass bathroom habits" to have it or enjoy it, thank you very much.

Some quick google fu shows that a wood (and thus brown) bathroom can be gorgeous. Check out this. Or this. Or this. Or even this. And all that is from the very first search page that I found.

Alternatively, how about a non-wood brown bathroom? Disgusting, you say? I give you this. Or this. Or this. Or this. Again all from the first page of that particular search.

Now, not all of the above are my personal taste, but I dare say all of them are quite lovely. And every single one of them happens to be brown.

              Imagine that.

Brown on its own in a bathroom is too earthy. But with the correct greens, and a few plants, with a touch of blue floral decorations, you could easily turn a brown bathroom into a pleasant forest.

You could also try going with gold and peach, to correct a brown bathroom.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

I rent, so my bathroom is cream walls with advocado fittings. Not to my personal taste, but I'll save that for when I finally get a place with my boyf.

An opinion that not everyone agrees with. Just saying.

                        Just to avoid any misunderstanding:

I wasn't trying to disparage brown as a color choice for a bathroom (I actually like brown! Really!)

I just thought the woman's reaction was funny.

And I also thought my own reaction to her reaction was funny. Not that I behaved appropriately or anything, but I just couldn't suppress my laughter.

Add it to the list of things I should have gotten in trouble for, but didn't.
                        "Wouldn't that be unethical?"
"That's only an issue for those who aren't already in Hell."

I know I worded this wrong yesterday. I just remembered that when I was growing up, our bathroom had brown tiling and a brown shower curtain. I guess what I was imagining was a brown sink, brown commode, brown bathtub, etc. and I did not think those were made any longer. The last couple of homes I have lived in have all had white sinks, commodes and bathtubs, and I was relating that to the fact that it seems like all kitchen appliances are now the same colors.

Really, nothing wrong with a brown bathroom. I just didn't think people had them any longer.

You know, I think the bathrooms in the Mandalay Bay suite we had in Las Vegas were light and dark shades of brown and bronze and it was absolutely stunning. I should see if I have pictues (yeah, I was so impressed with the decor I took pics of the suite).

Yeah, I'm from SC, it doesn't take much to impress me.

When I was a kid the wallpaper in our bathroom was gold/orange/brown floral (it was there when we moved in and my parents left it that way for years). The worst part was that the tile was mint green and peach....

The previous owners also had put black and red houndstooth carpet ... in the kitchen!

(For the record, we moved into that house in 1978.)

The apartment I lived in for years had 70's remnants throughout it.

Kitchen was dark brown cabinetry, stove was avacado green...speckly flecky gold countertop.

Bathroom was dark brown cabinetry, with a PEACH toilet/sink/tub. And tiles around tub, with more gold flecks. I like tiles, they're classy..but oy.

Where I'm at now? New carpet, yay, but OLD cabinetry. Thank GOD the stove/oven is new and WHITE.

Our bathroom now is a white color but with greens from us. A sagey green leaf print shower curtain, a brighter springy green rug set, and a blue & green cup/holder set. From Dollar Store!
