  • Opportunity to pwn a would-be SC

Let me set the scene: It's an insanely busy Saturday. Lines at all registers are 6-deep. Sups are too busy to direct traffic. I come down from break & am supposed to ask which register to go to but I know the sups won't mind if I jump on, as I'm considered a senior cashier. So I head toward the empty express lane. Some woman comes out of nowhere asking if I'm jumping on there. Now, I COULD do so, but decide that I'm gonna let the nice, waiting people go first. So I tell her I have to go ask where they want me, and they put me on an occupied lane to let someone else go back to the floor. The line is long and me-first lady doesn't get to line-jump. yay

That's like in my store when there's maybe two-four people in the two lanes we have open, and someone saunters up to the service desk to check out because they're too good to wait in line. They can see the service desk people are busy with returns and cashiers coming in who need money and just running around and just being busy in general, yet they expect everything to be dropped for them. When the service people have time to help with lines they will call people over.

I always check out in sporting goods because their policy is all ammo from the case needs to be bought there and they don't seem to mind or electronics but only if I have small amount of things. I hate waiting in the 4 lines that are 10 people deep because they didn't or wouldn't schedule people

People who wander up to the service desk to check out without being invited to suck.

Obviously, if the service desk people aren't currently busy with somebody else, they see the checkout lines backing up, and they invite you up there, it's okay. But otherwise you can wait your turn like everybody else.

And they're not going to invite just anybody to go up to the service desk to check out. Just people who have a few small items, so the desk isn't tied up for anybody needing to make a return or something. And also because the service desk people aren't going to lift your 24-packs of soda or pails of cat litter out of your cart over the desk. Management is already antsy about back injuries, because one of the apparel ladies fucked up her back trying to lift a display table.

I always have to laugh when I see people in the electronics section of stores checking out their groceries.

We had a SC just a few days ago chard up to the SS demand to have them checkout a full cart of groceries. At the time their was actually a empty register so the SD people sen the SC back. He was not happy.

I have also see people use the registers in the "food court" at another chain to try to check out their large order. The food court is the deli(meats,cheeses,etc/hot food chicken, custom sandwiches, etc/pizza/bakery&coffee. They refuse to as they have more important things to do like, their job of making sandwiches, pizza, etc. Must be nice to have managers w/ a spine.
