  • I chnged my mind, it's your fault

A few days ago I am checking the sales floor in my dept. I was making a list of the pre-pack(made off site, packaged in retail packaging, frozen and shipped to us all we do is put the price sticker on) items I need to pull. The SC approaches holding a item.

SC: This is only good until <date two days away> and I am having a party tomorrow. Do you have anything fresher?
Me: I do, but it is frozen. It is fully cooked all you need to do is let it thaw.
SC: It's for tomorrow, that's fine.

I go in back, get the item label it and hand it to the SC. SC leaves. A bout 90 minutes later....

SC: What are you dooooing!!!? *slams item on counter*
    Me: What is wrong?
    SC: It's FROOOOZENNNNNNN!
    Me: Yes, *explains above conversation*.
    SC: I want a manager.

I get the manager. The Sc whines to the MOD. Apparently they wanted to have piece when they got home and went to cut it, then realized it was still frozen. MOD apologies and ended up giving the SC a refund and a free new item for the shelf. The SC whines that it is "stale" and better be good or he will call corp and storms off.

Bad shopper award. I think they qualify as 'dummy of the day.'

When will stores realize that they don't need/want these types of customers and to stop giving in to their stupidity?

well if you look at their stupidity and managements, you could see they are related.
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

Workers don't do that, the average worker is sick of these people.

It is lazy managers who don't want to have the deal with whiny customers who at fault.

PS. It would help if corp would make it a firing offense of manager who *repeatly* break the rules.

Breaking the rules is what managers are for. Unfortunately, most managers break them for the wrong people.

Which is when they proceed to ask for a manager who will permit it....again and again.

100% true!! The worst is when you refuse to do something, because it is policy, then the manager's break policy and give in to the SC's demand, whatever it may be. Now, had you, the poor employee, given in to the SC, and the very same manager had found out, it would be a punishable offense. In the end, you just end up looking stuipid or like the bad guy to the customer. You're the only one who loses. It happened to me all the time at the movie theatre and was ridiculously frustrating.
