    So I had one of my largest wastes of time since I got promoted 6 months ago.

    Setting: Busy as all hell Sunday, its the last day of our coupons since we work on a Monday to Sunday rotation. 45 minutes to go in the day. Also i should make this distinction first. We have two types of "sales" We have planned scheduled sales that we advertise in advance and we have 'instant rebates' (IRC's) These IRC's are not advertised and can come to pass for many reasons ranging from to much stock on hand to the manufacturer wanting to blow out stock. We have no control over IRC's since the manufacturer sets them and therefor cannot raincheck them as they are not an advertised sale but rather a pricecut on said item that can even vary from store to store.

    3 gentlemen come up to me, but i will refer to all 3 as SC

    SC: i want some honey laminate flooring but you dont have any here, can I get a raincheck?
    Me: I dont think honey laminate is on sale this week, I know maple and mountain oak is but i'll go grab the flyer.

    *grab said flyer and see that I was correct only maple and mountain oak are on sale*

    Me: Sorry sir but we dont have honey laminate on sale this week, let me check the computer and see if its an IRC.

    *while im looking it up on the computer I explain the difference between IRC and our flyer ads*

    Me: We dont have any right now but i do see its on IRC. Our store hasent carried any in about 2 weeks but Store (A) has 20 and Store (B) has almost 200 quantity.
    SC: Well we where at Store A and they didnt have enough so we came here instead!
    Me: Did you ask them to check if we had any? We haven't had stock on the item going on two weeks now.
    SC: No we didnt, they said it was a popular color so we figured you would have it!
    Me: Hmm, well sorry about that, Store B has some and they are only a 10-15 minute drive away. If you go now you will have tonnes of time to get there before the store closes and im sure they can get you what you need.
    SC: We cant go tomorrow?
    Me: Im sorry but the manufacturer is ending the IRC today so going to Store B is really your only chance.
    SC: Well how about we pay here and pick it up there tomorrow?
    Me: Erm.....we cant really do that since we are different locations, Also with IRC's we have no leeway on payment made after the end date so you should really head over there and get it if you want it.
    SC: Call them and tell them to hold it for us to pick up tomorrow for the sale price of today!
    Me: Sir they wont give you the sale price tomorrow since we simply cannot.
    SC; Just call them.
    Me: If you like but im 95% sure they will say no.


    At this point its now 20 minutes to closing, if they left NOW they MIGHT get there on time but instead they want me to call and get the other store to hold an item thats on a first come first serve basis and give them a sale price tomorrow for a non rain checkable item. And so I call.......

    Me: Hi I have a customer here who was quite insistent I call and ask if you would be able to put aside some laminate flooring for him for tomorrow and give him the sale price of today.
    Phone gal: Ummmmmmm no sorry, I can put it aside if they want it tomorrow but they cant get the sale price...
    Me: thats kind of what I figured, they would have to get there now to get that price right?
    PG: Well if they have a credit card then you can fax an image of it, we can run the numbers, then fax back the signature.
    Me: (bwah? isn't that how fraud happens?) Im unfamiliar with that practice. We haven't done that here before. Before I give that as an option I would have to clear it with our management here.
    *hang up*

    At this point I check if we would do the faxing thing with management and I get told no, which is what I assumed. My manager also cant believe they have spent the last 30-45 minutes here arguing over this instead of just going to the other store since its to late now.


    My manager goes out to tell them what I have already told them for the better part of an hour and they FINALLY leave.

    I want my 45 minutes back
    Fan? This is shit. Shit? Meet fan.

    Did they make it in time? Or did karma strike and have them pay full price the following day?

      more than likely not since they wanted to hang around and waste everyone's time as they didn't want to take that 10-20 minutes going there in the first place

        I'm voting for option 3. The SCs go to store B and say they were told they could get an even nicer style for the sale price that already ended.
        A lion however, will only devour your corpse, whereas an SC is not sated until they have destroyed your soul. (Quote per infinitemonkies)

          I find it so amusing when people are more willing to spend more time arguing about something than it would take to accomplish what they set out to do. Serves them right. Idiots. lol
