  • Call the housekeeper a TREASURE HUNTER or she'll rip your lungs out

The jacket's a little large, but she didn't charge
On Easter morning this lady checked out of her room, but supposedly left a jacket in the room. Now she's calling us asking if anyone has found it. Unfortunately for her, nothing has turned up, so of course she accuses our staff of stealing a jacket. She even demanded to know who the person is that cleaned her room because according to her, HK stole it. Don't know what our HK would want with it. They're short ladies, and this SC is tall.

At this point, she threatened the cops on us, but they haven't showed up yet.

I guess you need help dialing your telephone machine
How does someone trying to call 925 accidentally dial 755? And this isn't even including how different the last 4 numbers are.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

Oh yeah, cause nobody EVER misplaces anything!

Had that at my hotel, but it was a wallet. HK found it in the guest's bed after check-out, we had to mail it back to her. This was after the insisted the police be called, the electronic locks checked, etc. She never said thank-you either, even after I had to go after my shift, off the clock, to have money orders made to send back to her home country!

Someone from the "close enough" school of thought? I mean, "7" is kinda close to "9" on a keypad, and since they were going to have to press "5" anyway, why not just press it again, save yourself the trouble of looking for another number? It's close enough, should work.....

I worked for a year doing housekeeping at a local motel - you don't see people at their best...
People left all kinds of things behind, the best was when I moved a towel that had been left over an armchair, and underneath was a plastic bag - containing a vibrator, some condoms and a small device that none of us recognized... Funnily enough they never called back to ask if we'd found anything.

Ok, I am way too curious for my own good. Can you give at least a vague description of said mystery device?

Working at a motel, we get those people all the time. One woman insisted that she left her camera in the room and that Housekeeping took it. She wanted us to reimburse her for the camera. We gave her the spiel about how we're not responsible for items left in the rooms. She called corporate and they gave her the same spiel. She said she was going to call the police but nothing ever came of that.

The housekeeper who cleaned her room is someone I'd trust my life with, and was so hurt that someone would accuse her of stealing. The guest had taken the camera to several events around town that weekend and most likely left them there...I highly, highly doubt the housekeeper would have taken it.

Got you beat. Try about a dozen vibrators and dildos. And she actually came back for them. I think it's the only time I've ever seen someone come back for such items.

Yeah, sadly, I completely agree with you that there's a good chance that was part of their thought process!

I got a guy who left his cock ring behind and came back to claim it. He was stealthy though, and thought he'd fool us by claiming it was a bracelet -- claiming it was a bracelet roughly fifteen times, as in "Thank you for holding my bracelet! I'm so glad you kept my bracelet for me! I'm just can't believe I left my bracelet behind!

                  And so on.

Bracelet... my aren't we the optimist.

As far as the misdialing, what I want to know is why when I worked at the hotel people would try to dial 111 for the front desk (when there is instructions on the phone to press 0 for front desk).
Then again, apparently every automated menu has a live rep option that I just don't want to relay to the deaf user

Well, that many toys all at once is quite a bit of value. At that point, I'd be slightly surprised if they didn't come back for them to not have to shell out for the replacements.

"It's interresting, I wasn't exactly sure what the plural of "dildo" is. Is it "dildos"? Or "dildoes?" , which kind of looks a lot like it should be pronounced "Dil Does".

Anyway, I hope I never find out the correct spelling, like in a deposition or something.

                          "How many dildos were there?"

                            Slight update:
Even though the lady from the first story threatened to call the cops, she did make a complaint to corp about us.

So many times a guest will call us back saying they left something behind. Now, my standard practice for these calls is to take their name and number and call them back later. But, I usually won't even bother housekeeping for a good half hour. Usually, the guest will find the item in that amount of time on there own and it won't be a problem. If they still haven't found it in half an hour, then we do start the search.

Housekeepers so rarely take anything from the rooms. I know the housekeepers in our hotel are all good people. When the guest is being a butt about things, I make sure to field the complaints. The housekeepers have enough to deal with already. (I've heard the stories and I couldn't stomache some of the things they have to do daily.)
