  • ...what was the point?

The other day, Boss Man came in muttering about how CW had disturbed him with a call late the night before. Apparently, a Crazy Cat Lady (CCL) who had recently stayed at the motel wanted to speak with him but wouldn't say about what, so Boss Man told CW to tell her that he wasn't there.

I asked CW what CCL wanted. CCL apparently said it was an "emergency" but wouldn't say regarding what. According to CCL, Boss Man told her she could call him any time day or night. Yeah, right.

So, just as I clocked out, the phone rings and CW says it's for me. I ask who it is, since Creepy Phone Guy* had called me the day before. CW asks, but the person on the other end of the line won't say. I'm off the clock and in a hurry to get somewhere, but CW is saying this person REALLY needs to talk to me. I quickly determine CCL is on the other end of the line.

CCL: Hi, this is CCL, is Boss Man there?
Me: No, he's off today and tomorrow. He'll be back on Tuesday.
    CCL: Oh, okay, thanks, bye!

So...she only wanted to talk to me to see if she could talk to Boss Man? WTH?

*Creepy Phone Guy has been calling me off and on for about four years. Every seven or eight months I get a call from this guy who just "wants to talk," identifies himself as a "voice from my past," and after I tell him I have no clue who he is he gets frustrated and hangs up. I hear from him only once or twice a year, and he targets me specifically (no one else has received similar phone calls). I figure I hear from him so very little often because it's only when the loony bin takes their annual field trip that he calls me, or something like that.

I get stuff like that at work a lot. People call in, ask to speak to CW1, and I then hear him telling them which movies came out that week . I think I could've done that? And I've had CW2 call, ask for CW1 when I answer, and then just tell him something like, "Tell M1 I won't be in tomorrow." ... I could do that, too. It's weird. For the most useless/easy things, people always request to talk to CW1 if I answer the phone. So, you're my CW1 in this situation.

Maybe you have an annoying phone voice, or give off bad phone vibes. For whatever reason, count your blessings that you don't have to put up with the stupid/repetitious/harassing questions.

Because CW doesn't want to talk to her again? Last time, it got her in trouble with the boss man...
