I have two jobs. My full time job is in a government office and then I do my retail slave act in the evenings and weekends. It's common knowledge at job one that I work at job two.

Sitting minding my own business yesterday when my phone rings, it's "lady" from another department....

Her: I bought a ham from your 'other place of work' but it's not what I thought it was, can it be refunded
Me: Umm, shouldn't be a problem as long as you have your receipt.
    Her: I do, thanks

End of discussion (or so I thought)

Door to reception area opens, in walks co-worker, dumps ham on my desk,
Her: I'll get the money off you tomorrow, you don't have to give it to me now. Thanks (exits stage right)
    Me:

Takes ham, puts it on her desk.

"Here, I think you left this on my desk by mistake"

    Then leave.

i would've said "thanks, now I don't have to cook tonight" and taken it home.
why not? after all, you're not at your second job, you're at your first one. You're not obliged to return her stuff for her, so you could say in good faith that you thought she was giving it to you, as in gift wise...I mean, how would she react if you were to walk into her home over the weekend with some paperwork for her to do?

Funny, I don't see any mention of her giving you the reciept when she dropped off the ham. Did I miss that?

Give the ham back to her. You're not her bitch. Not even at your other job.

OMG, the audacity of that woman bothers me! I hope you didnt return it. If you did, I would have kept some of the money as a "handling" fee.

Although if what you did with the ham involves large amounts of KY jelly and the arrogant cow orker then we don't need to know.

Wow. That was pushing the luck for having an instant cranioectomy.

dump it back on her desk and walk off; she can do that crap herself. calling for info is one thing, treating you like a servant is another.

wench needs a long class in etiquette AND class, since she lacks both.

                    1. Give the ham back to her

Ah guys, I'm a pushover. I took the ham back. But...in my defense, she is a higher grade than me and could make life hard....and I did tell her that I had trouble returning the ham since everyone at my other jobs knows I'm a veggie! I hope she doesn't do it again but if she does, I swear I'll flat out refuse to take it!

She may be a grade higher than you at work, but she's lower than the scum on the bottom of your shoes for dumping the ham on your desk.

she might be a higher grade but I would doubt that HER boss would be impressed if they knew what was going on.

That is the kind of thing you document, just because your a lower level doesnt make you someones personal slave....professional maybe....but not personal!

I will go on a coffee run everymorning for the office, but its on company time! Im being paid to do it....My boss once asked me to drop off her dry cleaning after work, and I said in my best blonde oblivous voice "well I have nothing to do right now so I can do it right now!"

no way im giving up personal time for someone elses errands!

Is that ham an ambient or chilled product? Over here, they're all chilled as far as I know, and returns for that would be very awkward. Most places would either eat the loss or refuse outright.
