  • So you're going to try it with me now?

    A little backstory:

Last summer a customer went to one of my coworkers and wanted to return his sunglasses. She got the manager for whatever reason, and he refused to honor the return. I can't remember why since he wasn't my customer, but I think it had something to do with him being over the time limit. The customer got mad and tried to talk to the people higher up. I thought that was the end of it.

Guess what? He came in today. Tried on a pair of sunglasses, then asked me all these questions. Then eventually it led to him asking if he could exchange his sunglasses for the pair he just tried on. He told me about that story that had happened last summer, and I told him that if the manager told him that he could not return them then there was nothing I could do. He could either buy the sunglasses or not, but there was no way that he could return his sunglasses.

Seriously, why would you do that? The first manager said no, and not only that, now his glasses are at least two years over the limit! And of course he didn't have the receipt or the tag to them, so how could I have returned them? We didn't even sell that style in the store! I'm quite certain he thought I was really going to go ahead and take them back.

He needs to get a real life, I think. 2 years being focused on a pair of sunglasses?! (LOL! I made me a pun!)

Indeed. Just donate the things to Goodwill if you don't want them.

Well, why not? There are places like Kohl's that will take back anything.

I seem to recall a story about some people cleaning a man's closet after he dies, finding lots of stuff purchased from Kohl's years ago, and they brought it back to Kohl's.

And got a full refund for it all.

And that fucks it up for those of us who don't work at Kohl's, because their same policy of taking back almost everything becomes expected of every store.

I'm going to be the spoilsport here and point this out: There is, and has been in the past, a scam going around involving sunglasses. If someone is hanging around your sunglasses like that, asking questions, watch them! What happens is, they steal a pair (or however many they can get away with), then bring them back later for a return or exchange. We've had warnings about this just about every year at the c-store. Word of advice next time this guy comes in: Just say no. My gut tells me he's a scammer!

my old manager didnt know the word no when it came to returns. she told us if it scanned we take it back.

            well this was fun.

last year we had a lady come in with bags of washed and worn clothes. she bought them the summer before.
we all told her no. our lovely store manager said go ahead.

well she was in again yesterday our new manager said no way.
this woman was not happy.OH WELL

We get that talk too, and I usually will call a manager if someone tries to return something without a receipt that they claimed to have paid cash for, though the manager usually lets them return the merchandise anyway. > I don't think the guy is a scammer, he's just a spoiled brat who thinks that just because he spends money in my store that he doesn't feel that he needs to abide by the policy.

Hahaha, the problem is he pulled them out of his pocket and they were clearly still being worn. He didn't even have a case to them.

Really, he should be talking to the associates in the men's accessories department. I don't return things that don't go in my department if they cause a lot of trouble.
