A little backstory:
Last summer a customer went to one of my coworkers and wanted to return his sunglasses. She got the manager for whatever reason, and he refused to honor the return. I can't remember why since he wasn't my customer, but I think it had something to do with him being over the time limit. The customer got mad and tried to talk to the people higher up. I thought that was the end of it.
Guess what? He came in today. Tried on a pair of sunglasses, then asked me all these questions. Then eventually it led to him asking if he could exchange his sunglasses for the pair he just tried on. He told me about that story that had happened last summer, and I told him that if the manager told him that he could not return them then there was nothing I could do. He could either buy the sunglasses or not, but there was no way that he could return his sunglasses.
Seriously, why would you do that? The first manager said no, and not only that, now his glasses are at least two years over the limit! And of course he didn't have the receipt or the tag to them, so how could I have returned them? We didn't even sell that style in the store! I'm quite certain he thought I was really going to go ahead and take them back.
