How To Make Me Suspicious

I think the customer was scamming but was way too nervous about it and kept giving himself away, about a third of a way through the call I terminated it on the grounds that customer was giving me cause to doubt that he was who he said he was.These are not the exact words, but you get the gist of how it was.on every question, he replied in this manner.

me - "what is your account number?"
customer *gives account number* waffles a bit - "it is really mine, i can give you my name and address and everything
me "can you confirm your name?"
customer"oh yes its xyz and i've got two middle names and those are x and y and do you want my date of birth?"
me "ok what is your date of birth?"
customer "its x of may, 19 xx, and i've got a birth certificate to prove it really is me"
me "what is your address?"
customer "its xx yz street, and i've lived here for seven years and i've got a bunch of id with that address on and ........the account number i gave is really mine and i can answer any question you like so you know it is me and....."

.continues trying to convince me till I get really suspicious.

now maybe it really was him, but i dont know why would you go on and on and on like that unless you were trying too hard with it?

Maybe it was the guy and he had either:

1. Had his identity stolen recently and had to convince people he was who he was.
2. High.

Those'd be my guesses!

Sounds to me like he was extremely nervous. Even if all the info matches up with your records, as much info as he was giving away, being jittery about it is a sign that that info might not be his after all.

Perhaps a third of the way through the routine questions? Or at least that is my interpretation of it =)

Maybe TA hung up but the customer stayed on the other end of the line for a while before realising that noone was listening on the other end...
