Our campus has a gameroom in the basement of one of our halls. They have attendants that watch over it, to make sure people aren't misusing the equipment which includes a foosball table, several pool tables, TV and various board games. This day, the Campus Activities head lady asked me if I would watch the gameroom, since both the attendants were out for the day. I agreed, because I was looking into getting this job next quarter (since both of the attendants were either going to main campus or graduating).
    List of rules to follow:
1)Do not sit on the pool tables: The reason why we have this is because someone sat on one a few years back and broke it. They then moved onto the next one and broke it too. These tables come from donations, so they are old and can break easy. Especially if you are much more heavier set than most people. So when I tell you not to sit on them, don't sneer at me and tell me to shut up. Because I am acting attendant, I can throw you out. Also, if I do throw you out, don't try coming back in an hour later, thinking I won't be there. Guess what? I'm here all day. So leave or I will ban you permenantly!

    2) You need student ID to play anything: If you're not a student or don't have your ID on you, you don't play. Simple as that. In the past, if the attendant knew you were a student, you wouldn't have to show ID, just write your name down and how long you want to play (price depends on how long you play). Now, we have a new system that requires us to swipe the ID card, so yes, we HAVE to have it. Pleading and whinning and complaining won't help your situation. Carry your ID with you and you wouldn't be having this problem.
And to you high school kids on a college visit: I've told you repeatedly, that you have to be a student to play. Why? Liability reasons, that's why. No, "thinking about becoming a student" does not count. If I see you trying to play after I return from the bathroom one more time, I will bash your skulls in with the cues, now get the fuck out!

    3) Leave the TV alone!: we have a very nice flat screen TV that has cable. Usually we leave it on a news channel or ESPN. Rarely will we allow someone to change it to where they want it (if no one else is down there or if the others down there don't care then it's fine). Don't just assume that if you have the remote near you, that means you control it. You have to ask permission from both the attendant and the other students sitting around if it is ok to change it. Don't just change it and turn it up full blast on MTV or something. There are kids studying in here, not to mention several who are napping. And please, don't throw a tantrum every time I tell you to turn it down or change it back to the news. I will grow agrivated and lock the remote in my drawer with the TV stuck on soap operas or talk shows. You did this to yourself, so live with the consequences of waking up several of our baseball players and making them watch Oprah. They won't be happy.

This was only one day. I'm afraid to see what doing this everyday will do to me.
Just because they serve you, doesn't mean they like you. And just because they smile and act polite doesn't mean they aren't planning to destroy you.

Mean and tough is the only way to deal with customers, and college kids. He he he he he.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.
