Fucking bitch!
No really, that's what I was told today by a customer.
Shortly before, said customer tried to cut in a line nearly 10 deep (lunch rush is NASTY in my store). Another customer tore into her about cutting in line, how rude it was, etc etc etc. The offender just turned red and went back to the line, mumbling "HOW DARE SHE SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT!". The person who tore into her wound up being my next customer, turns out she was REALLY pissed about someone cutting in line (this is incredibly common at my store on express, 2 lines feeding 4 registers and we all know how well people read signs) and was still visibly shaking, and apologized to me for making a scene, I told her the truth "Ma'am, you told her exactly what I've been dying to say to people like that, no need to apologize, thank you very much".
When said cutter came up to my register 2 customers later, I greeted her and asked how she was, trying to treat her like anybody else.
"FUCKING BITCH!"
"What the fuck did you call me?"
"FUCKING BITCH!
"2 choices, stop fucking cussing at me, or leave before I call the cops".
"nono I meant the fucking bitch in front of me"
Me: "Then you shouldn't be answering my questions with 'fucking bitch' should you?"
She turned beet red and looked like she wanted to rip my skull off, her daughter managed to intervene and apologized. Neither of us said a word to each other during the transaction, until I handed her her change. Just as handed her the change she mumbled a barely audible "Thanks" and I said rather loudly "Whatever, bye" and slammed my drawer shut hard enough to knock my pen off the counter.
Yeah, I have a short fuse, but I'm also a bit passive aggressive... but when I relayed this to management, they told me next time something like that happens, just walk away from my register, find the nearest phone, call management, then call the police, in that order. Management knows exactly what I said and they said they would have turned a blind eye once hearing my version.
