WOW insulin is now a non-prescription drug??????. when my Ex had to be on insulin only a couple of years ago we needed a perscription.
As far as I know, you haven't needed an Rx for years, if ever. You only need one if you want your insurance to pay for it. Not only humans use insulin. We had lots go out for cats and dogs.

It's the syringes we would question. Especially if you don't know what size you need.

Wal-Mart will let you pay for prescriptions at any register. I regularly grab my insulin at the pharmacy, without prescription as it is not needed for insulin, and pay at a regular register once I have finished my shopping.
They are pretty brave to do that. Some types of insulin can be bought without a prescription, but we make them buy it at the pharmacy counter. If we just handed it out like that Walmart does, I have the feeling that quite a lot of it would go out the door without a receipt.

I know with my grandma the rule was that she needed a prescription anytime she wanted to change brand or if she was changing pharmacies, but refills all she had to do was call in with her name and how much she wanted.

As far as ways you can speed up service
          At the relay center
-please, make sure you enter the entire phone number into the call request window... no matter how hard we try, dialing 801618 is NOT going to work
-if you have any special requests/requirements (eg need a female interpreter, need an interpreter that speaks spanish, etc) please include that in your call request so that we can get you to the proper interpreter quicker.
-You had to wait to be connected after placing your call request, and now you are requesting we redial for 20 minutes, guess what, people redialing for 20 minutes is one of the reasons why we have a wait to be able to connect after you put in your call request.
          - Please pay attention to your call. Just because you are permitted up to three minutes to finish your response does not mean that you have to take three minutes. Please pay attention to when we send through messages and be ready to type back as soon as you read them.

          At the hotel
-If we asked the person before you for an ID and credit card and the person before them for an ID and credit card, please make the logical leap that we will indeed need an ID and credit card from you.
-Yes, I'm sure we need an ID and credit card, that is why I asked
-That sign asking you to please reserve your shuttle at check-in... yes, that means you too.
-If you are in a group of people who's flight has been cancelled that has been given vouchers to our hotel, you do not all have to call in, this will not speed up your pick up, quite the opposite as we can't send out the shuttle until the phone stops ringing and we know where everyone is... rather just have one person call in and tell us you have (however many) in the Delta terminal.
-If you ask for restaurant suggestions, I am going to ask you what type you are looking for... telling me "any restaurant" is not going to help, because while I may feel that Big Daddy's Pizza and Pier 49 Pizza are God's gift to humanity, if you don't like pizza my recommendation for them isn't going to help you.
-Salt Lake is a big place... unless you are looking for a major landmark (eg Temple Square, Hoggle Zoo, Tracy Aviary, LagoonPark) don't expect to just be able to walk up with no information other than the name and expect me to instantly find it without any further input, please have at least the neighborhood available so I can expedite my search.
-On that note, unless you are describing a major landmark, I probably won't be able to guess what you are talking about by a vague description (if you say something like, "you know, where they lit the olympic torch" then yes, I likely will be able to say "oh yeah, the Olympic Cauldran, that's..., but if you say "you know, the place with the statues"... umm, there are a lot of places with statues...)

I've been a diabetic for 24 years and have never needed a prescription. A lot of pharmacies don't know that and a lot of Dr.s and nurses don't either. But there it is and I might add that as far as I know Walmart is the only company that carries a generic which is roughly half the price.

Only if it's under $50 and not a control. And our pharmacy, we didn't let insulin go up front because it was getting stolen left and right.
            Ahh, that explains that then.

She didn't even need to do that. I just spent some 6 months road tripping across pretty much every state and bought insulin in 7 of those states. "Hi I need a bottle of the reli-on brand Novolin 70/30." "Here you go do you need anything else?"

            End of story.

            Sorry for the triple post.

Seems reasonable enough: insulin is such a common medicine, and one that, if you need it, you might need it RIGHT NOW, and one that absolutely NOBODY takes for the fun of it.
Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

That is pretty much how I explain it to every Dr., nurse and pharmacy employee who is astounded by not needing a prescription for the insulin.

                  Number Three...

...Get a damn debit card! There is no reason to be writing checks at the store anymore. Save them for when you have to send something in the mail.

when i cash out drawers at night there are almost never any checks from the FS. the RX? yes. always. some are over $100. i entered one last night for $1.10. really???

i agree. just use a damn debit card. since you dont know what store youre in. also, you have to scribble over the first amount you wrote which was wrong, and since your handwriting is worse than a squirrels, i have to guess what number you wrote

Sara, I thought you liked squirrels. That's an insult to them.
