  • Dog Day Afternoon

A guy walks into our store with his dog, a big no no at my store. He grabs the leash and proceeds to tie to a shopping cart handle in the cart corral.

Me: I'm sorry, you can't have your dog in the store.

Guy: It'll only take a minute

Me: I'm sorry. Store rules the dog needs to be outside.

Guy: But I don't want to leave her outside. It'll only take a minute.

Me Sorry. The dog needs to be outside.

Guy I don't see why it's such an issue

Me Like I said, store rules. Besides her being tied up there prevents other customers from getting a shopping cart.

The guy finally ties his dog up outside and does his shopping. He took way longer than the "minute" he kept insisting on. I begin to ring him up. He kept whining that our rules are dumb and that he hates leaving her outside. Didn't I realize what could happen to his dog if she's left tied up outside. He finally left shooting me hurt little looks as he untied his dog.

Listen, I am a dog owner too. But I don't try to force my dog into businesses that don't allow him. If I am walking him and need to go to the store then I return him home and then go shopping. It's not that difficult.

Huh, yeah he's right. Someone could have stolen his dog. So he should have taken the pet home.

Let the lazy puppy laze about in an air conditioned place, sleep on the couch, put in a movie.

I don't spoil my dog at all!

I feel for you. I love dogs too, and I would not take my dog somewhere he couldn't go.

Funny, I had a complaint about a dog in the mall today, so I approached the lady who had a little black terrier-mix-thing on a leash and told her she could not have the dog in the mall. She almost screamed "it's not a dog! It's a service animal!" When the dog turned I saw it had a vest and badge for medical assistance. I appologized and said I had gotten a call about a dog and had to check... And she cut me off again with a scream "IT'S NOT A DOG!"

Um, ok; your service guinea pig then? Cause it sure looked like a dog to me.

I had a lady come in the c-store tonight with a little white....Shih Tzu, I think...tucked under her arm, carrying it as if it were a fashion accessory. I was too shocked to speak, really. I did, however run through the scenario in my mind. I was going to say something, in hopes she would complain that it's too hot in the car to leave the little fluffball out there, so I could tell her she should've just left it home, in the air conditioning! Too bad she left before I could say anything. (Btw, TruthHurts, love your avatar! "Gotta love the baby!")
