I decided I HATE 3rd shift after the half hour of hell (ok 45min but HHH sounds better). I was usually busy for a 3rd shift with an amount of people fit for 2nd shift, and that wasn't even the fun part it just made it roll into worse, actually I blocked more from that night then I care to remember. but the following went down in 45min
State Liquor Control
I had two customers wishing to purchase alcohol after hours, luckily they both just put it back and got something else, except the one guy was from out of state and really wanted to know where he could drink, and are you
sure you can't sell. Yes, I'm sure considering I'm pretty sure you already bought 2 tallboys 2hrs ago and now you have a 2-3yr old girl with you.
Then the college looking guy behind him comes up to get his two big waters instead of 40s, when I ask him if he with the SUV that is sitting outside my front door
cg: "yep"
me: "So your a cop right?"
cg: "What?"
me: "Im pretty sure your a cop from the looks of that SUV"
(at this point im staring at the chain around his neck that is obviously a badge holder)
cg: "Yep, 3 man team out looking to catch violations"
me: "Good luck"
It also helps that I noticed them several hours earlier when they pulled into my lot and were suspicious then, especially at the point of guy with gun and badge on his side coming out of bathroom that I somehow missed him on his way in which freaked me out. Actually, wondering what would have went down had I called the local cops as soon as I noticed the first car enter my lot because I wasn't sure who what they were just that I know that car had a gun and was a stranger that could have been scouting earlier. I truly did enjoy the guy wanting me to tell him where booze were in front of what at the time I had no idea was a undercover cop, only to be topped by the guy who asked and was serious in front of a uniformed cop having lunch by my microwave.
Although, I think the undercover was generally pissed I figured out who he was and called him on it. But eh, its in my best interest to know when something isn't right, whether it is a setup by the police or criminals
So I decide to go outside for fresh air as I realized had I spaced out on the time I could have just gotten arrested as I would hope the undercover guy would at least ask "hey how late can you by?" to give you a chance to go "OOPS can't" but old guy would have been first and they have seen that happen and just arrest me on the spot
Federal Agent
As I'm outside I hear shouting I stick my head around the building to listen to argument with the old guy and another guy yelling at him "I'm a federal agent if you don't cooperate your going to be fucking arrested", He was getting ready to drive away without putting the little girl in a proper car seat. Personally, loved the part when the old guy said he was gonna kick his ass, and the response was "Bring it motherfucker" (throws arms open to taunt), I asked him if he was seriously a federal agent as the old guy took off, his Military ID was legit. Nice to see our counter terrorism people actually care about the safety of a little girl while bar hoping.
The Locals
Shortly after the shouting match, a few of the locals I have never seen before stroll in and approach me. Actually, they were shocked to how well informed I was and I guess old guy called the cops because of a drunk who tried to attack him. I assured him that while the younger guy may have been drinking he wasn't drunk he was just pissed off at how the old guy was willing to endanger the little girl and the younger guy was just concerned for the well being of the little girl. (ok I might have used the logic in college our RAs used of your not holding a beer so I can't say your drunk, but hey I was on his side of the old guy needing his ass kicked) They ask few more questions and are off.
Looking back it was kind of an interesting night but at the time it really really sucked. I'm just glad nobody almost got shot(believe me it has almost happened several times when the cops have been around) And I can't stop thinking about what a SC that old guy was considering his proximity to all of the LEO encounters of the night, only wish he could have been tazered and arrested
