Two small ones, because most of the annoying ones have been variations on a theme.
Retort Needed
I'm cleaning and restocking our display of toy cars (and made one lady's day by having cars in the first place, and again for having the model she wanted), and regular customer, actually the father of Manager S1 comes in, for beer. He comes right up to me.
"Why are you moving so slowly? Is it because you work for minimum wage? I bet that's it."
I GLARE at him before moving off to settle the line that's built up at the checkout. As I get to the register, I think up the perfect retort. "How is that an appropriate question to ask anyone?" Which is true. Just because I move slowly and do my job thoroughly when I work doesn't mean I don't love doing it.
"Healthiness +" Suck
As I explained earlier in a thread in Sightings, Aid of Rite has a new rewards card and the latest thing with it are the rewards. For example, "General Bill's" cereals are on sale this week, 2/$4. The problem is that they are 2/$5 with the card, and you only receive the dollar off from a coupon that prints at the end of the receipt AFTER you've paid the 2/$5 price. The only way for you to redeem that coupon is to purchase two OTHER boxes of "General Bill's" brand cereals and use the coupon from the first purchase towards that purchase. Aid of Rite also has a thing where you can bring in coupons you forgot, along with your receipt and we'll give you the money for those coupons. Well, that procedure doesn't work with these rewards coupons; I tried it yesterday and the register hissed at me that I can't do it. I hate it, I think it's false and misleading for the rewards anyway.
Too many people have bitched and whined that the cereal needs to be on the card in the first place, then whine more when they realize they can't buy that cereal for the advertised price unless they buy two boxes in the first place and then whine louder when I can't give them the 2/$4 price unless they purchase 4 boxes total on 2 seperate transactions. I also hate people who tell me I can keep the cereal and then wait impaitently for me to process their return on an insanely busy weekend when I am the only cashier on. No. Hate it. I refuse to ask for that card unless they do first. It saves me so much headaches.
