  • Well this is a first....

Ok so of course this happened when I was on vacation

Our store has 17 cameras, all functional. 2 of them are outside the building. One out front, and one out back. Pretty high up as well. Most people probably never notice them.

So last week, some kids (damn kids) were hanging out outside back of the store. Cant see their faces very well (i didnt say the cameras were great) and one gets up and stands off to the side.

Then all of a sudden *whack!*

    Cameras gone.

Seriously. who the hell steals a security camera???

I swear these kids keep getting worse and worse (and youve heard my stories)...but to steal store equipment? thats too much.

Luckily the cops are pretty sure they have the kid and wanna know how we wanna handle it. Make the parents pay (which could go as high as 1,000 bucks) or have the kid arrested. Of course the manager doesnt know and wants LP to make the choice, but LP didnt call the officer to let him know. so its all in limbo. fail.

    Another story.

So we have this asshole. Well, we have many, but this one stands out more than the others. He complains about anything. Some things, i can understand, but hes just annoying and its really not his job. He came in around 8:15 last night and bought some soda and left. and of course he came back about 8:50 (we close at 9) and he does this ALL THE TIME. he knows we close at 9. he will hold up the line and have some mess and keep us all there til after 9. he complained that there was a bag sitting on the counter for multiple transactions. seriously. he wanted a raincheck for more soda. he was going to leave but he had to make it his business...

a girl was in there checking out and was holding her dog in her purse or something. ok yea dogs arent allowed and i get why. but it was a tiny dog and she was about to leave. asshole practically yells at her about having her dog in the store, and reduced her to tears. meanwhile everyone else in the store all of a sudden is scared and staring at him. one person just dropped their stuff and left. Luckily CW N was able to get him to leave after some back and forth "yelling". the guy complains if the doors are open too long b/c air conditioning can get out and pollute the air. (havent heard about that since last summer thankfully) yet the asshole (ok, so hes in a wheelchair and doesnt have legs...and i feel bad but) he doesn't cover what little bit of leg he does have, and apparently its against health codes or something. so he can get away with that but god forbid the doors open too long? or theres a bag on the counter? ZOMG IM GONNA CALL THE DM.

CW N barely slept last night and was still ticked off by him today. I hope we can ban him. he is one serious asshole, he gives everyone a hard time, and has a history with us

So, the guy is a meddler and runs good customers out of the store. He has an adverse history with the store. What does management say about him?

He...Can't cover what remains of his legs because of 'health codes?' What world does he live in?!? Every amputee I've seen either has the pants hemmed-pinned up, or if it's a shirt the sleeve sewn off, or there's a prosthetic attached, or they have a nice, neat, perfectly clean and bandaged stump, or a skin-covered healed stump! No health code about having your face exposed, or your hands, or your elbows....

Hmm, I'm thinking his stumps might not be pretty, someone commented or he FELT like someone had something against him, and now he's out for blood!

Why can't the parents be forced to pay and have the kid arrested? Just sayin'. If I had a choice, I'd take reimbursement. And pray the parents come down on him like a bag of bricks. I love a good arrest story, but I love a thousand dollars more.

I'd go for the arrest-the-little-bastard option, if it were me.

Letting Mom and Dad just cut a check would only teach him that he can just buy his way out of whatever bad situation he gets himself into, IMHO, but like you said, not your call.

I think the payment option and jail are good options. I mean, the kid wouldn't get more than a couple of hours jail time, before his parents bailed him out. So just sending him to jail wouldn't teach him much. But making the parents pay would more than make them understand this punk needs to be watched. Then his parents would be so angry, if he were arrested and they had to pay, they would have no choice but to take this seriously.

If it were me (and my decision), I'd notify the parents, and give them an ultimatum: Pay for the replacement, or we send Junior to Juvie. Let them make the hard decision.

they are going to have them pay. if they dont wanna pay, theyre pressing charges

                        its gonna be $600 something
